There is much more in depth K-State football analysis on phog.net than there is here or anywhere else on the net for that matter.  They really care.  It's quite touching.  Of course, most of them were probably KSU FB / ku BB fans during the Snyder years.

And to answer the poll question, yes very surprised.  I remember hearing the news on the radio and talking to my dad about it.  we both agreed that another 4 or 5 win season, even with the extra game would be great for 2006.  And that even though we really already had, not to pass judgement until atleast three seasons into his tenure.

There's a lot to boast about.  It's not easy to identify and schedule the 4 worst non-conference opponents in the history of modern college football.  My hat is off the the fat man.  He will live on Lake Alvamar Drive for a long, long time scheduling that way.  As long as he wins 6 or 7 a year, he can write his own ticket in L-town.

January/Febuary 06 - Expecting 7 to 8 wins
Summer 06 - Expecting 4 - 5 wins
After Illinois State game - Expected 2 wins

Honestly, I wouldn't call 6-6 for ku a total disaster any year.  If they are happy with 6-7 wins every 2-3 years, that's fine.  I think the rest of the north will pass by them though.

I don't know what I think of Prince.  While I do appreciate a 7 win season to start,  the DOD in me just doesn't think he can get the job done.  I think we'll stay competitive, but I won't hold my breath for another DOD...or even a YOD.

Initial Reaction: who the hell is this guy?

After researching Prince:  who the hell is this guy and why did we offer an OC that has presided over a relatively average offense at UVA.  BV is more qualified.

After Prince got Freeman:  Elated.  I was hoping he'd be able to recruit over his head to make up for his lack of experience.  

After the Baylor game:  I thought we wouldn't win another game the rest of the season.

After the end of the season: happy, but the last two games were complete disappointments and soured me.  

Now: Overall, yes, I'm surprised he isn't a disaster, but in some way (unrealistic as it might have been/is) I expected him not to be, even though he's inexperienced and has had to deal with crappy players.

I really don't think that is a problem.  Yeah, they give the guys a few more freedoms and he plays the PR game, but from what I've seen he and his coaches work pretty darn hard at football; much more so than the extra stuff.  This really isn't a whole lot different than most other programs IMO, especially with younger coaches.

At the end of the day Prince's ability to bring in recruits, continue to learn as a head coach, attract quality assistants, and develop sound schemes will make or break him.  I think he's off to a pretty decent start, probably about what I expected when I learned about him, and I must say that I think he's done a good job adjusting to his first coaching turnover from last year.
