J’Mison Morgan, one of the top basketball players in Texas and the No. 23-ranked player in the country, will be on Kansas University’s campus this weekend for an official recruiting visit.

Another Texan who was slated to make his visit to ku with Morgan, however, won’t be coming to town.
Phillip McDonald, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Cypress Springs outside of Houston, orally committed to the University of New Mexico late Tuesday night over ku, Oregon, Oklahoma and UConn.
The commitment was reported on the Internet edition of the Albuquerque Tribune newspaper.

“Coach Alford has been recruiting me for a long time, and he has done the things I want to do as a player,” McDonald told the paper, referring to former Indiana guard Steve Alford, in his first year at UNM.

“I just knew in my heart that New Mexico was the right place for me, and I wanted to be a Lobo.”

He visited New Mexico’s campus last weekend.

“I talked to a lot of coaches and no one else told me I would be the face of their program,” McDonald, Rivals.com’s No. 87-rated player, said.

ku has an in-home visit with Tyshawn Taylor, a PG from New Jersey, on September 12.

Mookie Jones, a top 40 prospect from New York, trimmed his list to six and ku made the cut.

Terrance Henry, a 6'9 forward from Louisiana, is visiting ku for Midnight Madness.

Quintrell Thomas, a 6'8 forward from New Jersey, is visiting ku on September 28th.

Kevin Jones, a power forward from New York, has ku at the top of his list.  

ku has an in-home visit scheduled with #1 overall prospect, Greg Monroe.

ku is also still in the mix with Willie Warren.  

The Morris twins, two 4-star prospects out of Philadelphia, are looking to take a couple of visits and then commit shortly after.  Eboss has pretty much hinted that the Morris twins are all but committed at this point.  

Coach Self and Danny Manning recently stopped by to see '09 prospects Xavier Henry and Daniel Orton earlier in the week.  ku is the favorite for #2 overall prospect Xavier Henry.

LOL @ ku sucking so bad in the tournament the last few years that ku fans are now resorting to Big XII tourney trophies to make themselves feel important.  I remember the days when ku fans used to claim that it was only "the dance" that mattered in hoops.  I guess thats all the matters until you embarrass yourselves numerous times in March.  LOL.
