    warm up the EMAW
Does anyone feel like maybe, just maybe, the people at the Athletic Department Promotions Dept. should be better at their jobs?

When I first saw it and was convinced that they were 100% serious about every second of the video I had a major "wtf?" moment.  Upon reflection and with the benefit of FBWillie's investigative journalism, I feel better and think that this is at worst a "Bring on the Cats" bomb and at best a new "Crazy Train" type tradition.

I am still really bummed out that THE BEST chant has been taken away by our Nazi band director Frank Tracz (cue powertard defense of their band leader) but I feel like this could end up being ok.  I really hate the chant, the Willie guitar playing because it seems to be taking itself seriously.  The Willie videos (especially "We ready Willie") were always super LOL because they knew they were goofy, I am not convinced that this one knows just how goofy it is yet.  If it becomes played often enough that the students realize that we better just pretend this is ironic and therefore LOL, then good.  But if this gets done like the "Bring on the Cats" the "clap 'til we score" the "Welcome to the Jungle" canned music crap that the Ath. Dept. says all the fans want more of (who are these a-holes?) and starts to dismantle the two really awesome songs the band has and replaces "We're going to beat the f**k out of you!" then I will be really depressed.

Thoughts?  Is anyone else willing to share their deepest, darkest thoughts/concerns on this?

    The very best.
Moral of the story?

Don't forget your power towel.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Serious Question:

Where do we get the power towel?? Is it going to be in my seat at the game, or do I have to go to GTM, Varney's ect. to get it???

(Kinda like the Blackout Big Monday)

The more questions they are confronted with about the power towel, the better.

Segue:

Anyone else hate the canned music?  Apparently according to our athletic dept. people request more all the time.

That is super-lame in my book.

Thoughts?

I agree that one of the biggest problems with the video is the lack of a tongue-in-cheek feel.  And I think this is problematic whether it was meant to be serious or funny.

I'll pile on...

I think that the cheer could catch on... its not that bad.  The video is bad, but funny, IMHO not catlabesque but unintentionally funny.  Powertowel or no powertowel people will get loud when the game is exciting.

This is the best topic in a long, long time.  KK didn't even have to bump his own thread and beg people to respond.  It's that good.

That's the thing, the people that like this either believe the Athletic dept meant this as tongue in cheek or see it as so regardless of it's intent...   I however don't see anything clever about it... Not like catlab anyhow... Catlab is not serious in a IN YOUR FACE sort of way...   Don't really see how anyone can compare it.  If willie had been wearing leather pants, had monster balad hair, flashes of Ron in the back ground and the video had ended with an adv. for a katpack, I would have called it catlab-ish...

And sadly, I believe this was meant to be serious... there's no other way around it.

Knowing that it will only be played once during a game were no opposing fans are likely to show is the only comforting thought.
The comments posted above do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of FBWillie

The chant reminds me of something you'd see at an NBA game. Either that or a really lame knockoff of the FSU Warchant.

Haven't really voices my opinion, but this pretty much does it.  That is, if it is intended to be like all the skits.

    The "other" KSU
I have said before, but I think that on this thread - it's worth repeating. Tradition happens... it's not created by some idiots. The 12th man... happened and stuck, the bon-fire was the same - until it collapsed and killed some folks, but I think that aTm is the best example of tradition in NCAA football. I thought that what we had was decent, this is new video is horrible and is a bad idea to try and force it on the fans.

I enjoyed Laura T's response, particularly when she admitted that people are telling them they can't hear the band.   Well no $hit; the current band location, and stadium design essentially omits the band being heard by the upper level.   Thus they should move the band . . . but bringing that up, sends the bandtards into hysterics.   So, instead of getting to hear the marching band and related cheers that come with it, the thousands of people on the upper level will get to hear the new state of the art sound system pipe in canned music as per usual.

I also want to see a KatPack ad campaign on the videoboards

I'm no bandtard, but was one in high school and if you plan on making me go sweat my ass off in this hokey uniform, you better not stick me in the &@#%ing high school section of the stadium (north endzone).  I would want to see the game for all of the free service I'm providing the university and all of my outside time I spend practicing steps and songs.  If you can't hear the band, perhaps you should pay an extra fifty dollars and get a seat in the lower bowl, if it's that important to you, whine-o.

No.  Band geeks should be placed in a purely utlitarian place in the stadium.  If they can't be adequately heard, they are a worthless consumption of valuable seating space.

If we can't hear them, then we might as well stick the band in the worst seats in the stadium.  If they don't like it, they can quit the band.  Always more home-schooled intstrumentalists to replace them.

Can we get a band geek emoticon?
