That's cool.  But nowhere in there does it say ku started that tradition.  I do remember an OSU fan posting a link to a site that said OSU did start the tradition.

Just because you guys stole it 50 years ago doesn't mean you didn't steal it.

It was dumb to steal anyways.  Seriously.  Do you realize how dumb you look?  I don't think you do.

Don't you guys have a tradition where you bob back and forth like the kids who used to ride the short bus?

    Fear the Brick
So I've watched the video a few times now, hoping that somehow, someway it would kind of sink in and I wouldn't think it was the worst, gayest thing I've ever seen, unfortunately I still can't come to that conclusion.  I keep thinking this is something that was done in 1985 (when guitar solos were cool) and they're just dusting off some old tape.  I don't mind the towels, those are okay.  Jesus Christ that video and the music suck.

Aren't ku fans supposed to be the ones that aren't ignorant?

Fatty's right.  If someone had introduced wabash to us in that format, we'd all be really pissed.  But because of the tradition, and the way it started, we're all pumped up about it every time it plays.

It could end up cool after a few years.  As it is, the way they introduced it was horrible.  Srsly.
How did the Wabash thing start out, anyway (not the song, the motion part)?
Before a game many years ago, Nichols Hall burned down to the ground.  (The band department used to be located in the old Nichols.)  The only piece of music left for the band to play was the sheet music the band director had in his briefcase at the time of the fire.  It happened to be "Wabash Cannonball."  So the band played that over and over again at the next game, and the fans loved it and even created a set of moves for it.  They've been playing it at games ever since.

A much better tradition than "We saw Oklahoma State do this one thing and liked it so we stole it," also referred to as "Waving the Wheat."
Well no sh*t. I meant the moves with it.

The moves were something that the band did.  Then excitable fans very much like fatty started doing it, too.  I guess they just couldn't contain their glee.  Anyway, it just spread until almost everyone would do it.  The 1st down business spread on its own in the same sort of way.  Someone was initially like, "Dude, I'm so stoked for that first down.  I am going to say the PA announcer's words out loud like I am singing at a rock concert."  Neither of those things, however, are half as gay as the garbage in that video.

Can you please make a YouTube depicting said events? Thanks Chum.

I could easily see Willie dreaming up an opening skit that incorporates Guitar Hero.

There's a new sheriff in town.
I can tell...all you guys are just angry you didn't grow up in the 80's. :)

The towel...eh, whatever.
The chant...I can see becoming effective...in time.
The video...well, let's just say "Video Killed the Radio Star"

That Rally Towel isn't nearly as cool as my McGrowl Towel.

McGrowl is the older version and unfortunatly mine is lost for the ages.  The rally towel was a late 90s version, sans the corporate sponsorship.

No.

    The very best.
It's not "gay"

It's funny.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

FWIW, I sent a lengthy email yesterday voicing my displeasure with the video.  I have yet to receive a reply.

I finally watched the video.  That's the worst piece of crap I've ever seen a university try to use.
