If this replaces the gary glitter song where we chant K-S-U during it, Prince might as well change the powercat.  That songs been kicking ass and taking names for like 30 years now.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

anyone remember the "spirit can"?  when the cheerleaders took the lid off, everyone was suppose to scream, when they put the lid back on, everyone was suppose to be quiet.  that was a brilliant idea compared to this.

That Rally Towel isn't nearly as cool as my McGrowl Towel.

McGrowl is the older version and unfortunatly mine is lost for the ages.  The rally towel was a late 90s version, sans the corporate sponsorship.

It got to me. :ksu:

I think the towels are intimidating, I seriously do. :ksu:

Are they handed out at the SJSU game to keep or do you have to go buy it??

Towels are OK. Song is ... just so-so. Video... ick.

The true test will be to see how it goes over in a game-time environment.

I don't think it will catch. Remember when they tried to introduce the "We Are K-State" thing? That really caught on...

The only problem with the idea is the "bring your towel" concept. Just make new towels each game.

Fatty's right.  If someone had introduced wabash to us in that format, we'd all be really pissed.  But because of the tradition, and the way it started, we're all pumped up about it every time it plays.

It could end up cool after a few years.  As it is, the way they introduced it was horrible.  Srsly.

    I survived the Dickey/Parrish era.
I'm not going to run to the box that stashed way back in the corner of the basement, but I know that I've got a 1982 "Growl Towel" down there.  It's packed just beneath the 1987 "Wipe'm Out Cats Towel."  Carrying some towel to a football game is akin to a 3-year old who won't give up his "wubby."

There's no tradition terry cloth.  Bad idea, wrong time--fire the marketing guy.

The video is so horrible that it ruins it.  The idea of that chant before kickoffs or right after td's maybe right after the ksu chant, or during timeouts isn't a horrible idea to keep the stadium in the game.  But whoever created the vid should be fired.

Bill snyder retarded the AD's creativity when it comes to that stuff.  We are like Eastern Europe when it comes to that.  They still love michael jackson.

haha...ok  :loly:

it does look bad ass when like 85,00 of 86,00 are shaking them.

Back in the day, there used to be a phenomenon call "Shaker Haze".
The Shakers were made of paper and after big plays and excessive shaking the shakers would just fall apart and streamers would go everywhere.

Im not old enough so i never got to experience it but my Dad says it was intense.

I'm fine trying a new chant and the crowd back and forth is a cool idea...but the recorded air guitar and horrible video are on the level of a high school team....

How did the Wabash thing start out, anyway (not the song, the motion part)?

Before a game many years ago, Nichols Hall burned down to the ground.  (The band department used to be located in the old Nichols.)  The only piece of music left for the band to play was the sheet music the band director had in his briefcase at the time of the fire.  It happened to be "Wabash Cannonball."  So the band played that over and over again at the next game, and the fans loved it and even created a set of moves for it.  They've been playing it at games ever since.

A much better tradition than "We saw Oklahoma State do this one thing and liked it so we stole it," also referred to as "Waving the Wheat."

Christ, you honestly just have to laugh at these loveable incompetents in the K-State marketing and promotions department.

I thought ku out drawing us in attendance for the home opener would be embarassment enough (41K expected for Sat.).  Now a fracking "power towel"???????

Banner start, ladies and gents.

The best college tradition is not dotting the i at Ohio State. It's not stealing the goat from Navy. Or waving the wheat at Kansas.

Also, here's a video clip from a 1950 game. You'll see some wheat waving about three quarters through:

Do a quick google search of "waving the wheat" and tell me how many times you get a link that mentions OSU.

BTW, what is a "new tradition"? And why would Freeman knowingly participate in that video?
