    Gettin' angried up!!!
Wow.... keep the jokes coming.

ku will handle K-State just like we did last year.  We improved in every aspect while K-State is about on par with where you were last season.  Your o-line still sucks and your QB still can't throw a TD to save his life.  I'm thinking ku wins by about 3 TD's again this season.  We just beat a team that finished 10-4 and won a bowl game last year 52-7.

52-7.

Please post CMU's schedule from their 10-4 season with W-L.

12-26-2006 Middle Tennessee State  Mid Major N 31 14 W
11-30-2006 Ohio  Mid Major N 31 10 W
11-24-2006 Buffalo  Mid Major A 55 28 W
11-17-2006 Northern Illinois  Mid Major A 10 31 L
11-10-2006 Western Michigan  Mid Major H 31 7 W
11-04-2006 Temple  Mid Major A 42 26 W
10-19-2006 Bowling Green  Mid Major H 31 14 W
10-14-2006 Ball State  Mid Major H 18 7 W
10-07-2006 Toledo  Mid Major A 42 20 W
09-30-2006 Kentucky  BCS A 36 45 L
09-23-2006 Eastern Michigan  Mid Major A 24 17 W
09-16-2006 Akron  Mid Major H 24 21 W
09-09-2006 Michigan (#9) BCS A 17 41 L
08-31-2006 Boston College (#20) BCS H 24 31 L

10-4 with losses to Kentucky and Northern Illionois.  Zero wins over BCS teams.  A bowl game win over Middle Tennessee State.

6 different players scored TD's for ku.  Two different guys ran for over 100 yards.  The o-line is improved.  The defense is improved.  The coaching has improved.  Seriously, if we beat your sorry asses by 3 TD's last season with Nick Q as o-coordinator, we should win by at least that much this season in Manhattan.

BTW, Dezmon Briscoe's first catch ever was a TD.  Where was Lamark Brown?

This will be ku's first away game in a very hostile environment, having never faced a defense as fast as ours all season.  We will have faced Auburn and Texas, and considering we didn't get beat up too bad against Auburn's scary defense, we should be fine and dandy after the Texas game.

I mean seriously, Central Michigan.  I know they won ten games and won their bowl game, but this is a summary of their wins:

A close win at home over a 5-7 Akron team.
A close win on the road over a 1-11 Eastern Michigan team.  (I'm assuming road games in the MAC/WAC wherever is a little different than @ Auburn)
Beat a 5-7 Toledo team on the road.
An ugly game vs. a 5-7 Ball State team.
Blowout vs. 4-8 Bowling Green at home.
Beat a 1-11 Temple team on the road.
Blowout vs. 8-5 Western Michigan at home.  OK, nice win.  First vs. a winning team.
Win on the road vs. 2-10 Buffalo.
Win vs. 9-5 Ohio in MAC championship.
Win vs. a horrible 7-5 Middle Tennessee team.

Not a good opponent to judge from.

A neutral game featuring KSU-ku would be a close game, but at home, it will be all KSU.

You still have no evidence that you can win on the road either. You haven't scored a td in Manhattan since '97.

I love it when ku whips a MAC team at home and they think they are much improved a good team.  See 2004

I still think we will be a 7-5 team, but i think our chances of getting that 8th win are better now.   It is only one game, but we played much better than i expected.

Sorry, this isn't '04.  ku is much better.  Deny it all you want.

There were K-State fans predicting Central Michigan to win against ku, and now they're saying Central Michigan's just a cupcake.  Not one K-State fan predicted a 52-7 ass-whipping.  It shows obvious lack of FBIQ.

Make no mistake, if K-State just beat Central Michigan 52-7, and Freeman had 260 yards and 4 TD on 20 completions, this board would be a full-out circle jerk.  I didn't see many K-State fans feeling sorry for ku when we got absolutely screwed at Nebraska last season in an OT loss.  A loss is a loss right???

Well, every single ku fan except you predicted a blow-out loss for us yesterday.  They expected Freeman to be responsible for 5 turnovers and for us to be very suck.  (OK, Freeman had 3 TO's but none were really his fault).

If Freeman would have torched CMU, we would be happy of course, but not at all convinced we are good yet.  We destroyed UNT 54-7, so a win vs. CMU wouldn't have shown anything.  Playing in front of that hostile crowd (top 10 toughest stadium) and almost pulling off the upset...we know where we stand.  Offense needs work, but we could actually move the ball up and down the field on that ridiculously fast defense, and our defense performed as expected.

ku vs. NU...IIRC, it was NU that almost screwed themselves over, followed by ku screwing themselves over.  Wasn't NU up a decent amount?

When you fumble the ball out of the endzone and don't have posession it's usually a touchback.  At Nebraska it's a 1st and goal.

LOL @ Central Michigan/North Texas comparison.  You're talking about a team that went 10-4 last year and won a bowl game.  North Texas is notorious for sucking major balls.  Even with that... a 52-7 win shows domination and shows that ku has superior talent on both sides of the ball.  That wasn't the case last year against teams like Louisiana-Monroe and Toledo.

Another thing... this is a completely new offense and it's night and day between what we had with Nick Quartaro.  I mean, when your All-American CB is coming in and scoring 50 yard TD's on offense, you know you're good.  ku has more weapons and more depth than we've had since the top 10 finish in '95.  I know you didn't see the game and/or don't care, but ku is improved.  You can write it off if you want to.

    The very best.
North Texas was 7-5 and the Sun Belt champs the year before we blew them out 54-7.

Just a FYI, these Mac/Sun Belt teams get really bad in a hurry if they lose their stud players.

Auburn? Naw.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Central Michigan did pretty well agaist Kentucky and Boston College (two bowl teams last season).  They have good athletes and a solid QB who threw for over 3000 yards last season.  They could be worse, that's all I'm saying.

This ku team is much more talented and solid up front than the '05 K-State team.  Your o-line has been a weakness for years now.

Stunner PLEASE bet BMW a large sum of money on the ku K-State game. ku has never shown an ability to win on the road. Let alone at a rival's packed stadium. You would rake it in.

Immediate history would suggest that ku is the better team (39-20) and I won a nice little chunk of change from 'stunner last year when ku took you guys to the woodshed.

This year won't be much different.  ku is a completely different football program at this point and time.  Last year was just a preview of things to come.  This team can finish games in the 4th quarter.

Pessimist: 3-9
Optimist: 4-8

This defense won't survive even a moderately decent passing team, out only hope will be to score lots and lots of points which is easier if you have an OL....

It's good to be good again!
@ Auburn (Loss, but I mean, we already thought we were going to lose)
San Diego State (Easy win)
Missouri State (Easy win)
@ Texas (Still predict a loss, but I believe we have a great shot at beating them again.  Still, they have a blackout vs us :ohno:)
Kansas (Before I thought it was 50/50 but we eventually pull it out, but I now believe we will win easily)
Colorado (Still predict easy win)
@ Oklahoma State (First I predicted loss, but now I will say this is a toss up.  We moved the ball better on a better defense)
Baylor (Easy win.  REVENGE :curse:)
@ Iowa State (Easy win, before I thought it was a toss-up)
@ Nebraska (Loss, but like vs. Texas we have a shot)
Missouri (I thought we would likely lose, but this is a toss-up IMO)
@ Fresno State (Easy win)

I think we go 8-4, with losses to Auburn, Texas, OSU, and Nebraska.

No way do we get an easy win versus San Diego State in our next game.  As a matter of fact I would bet the house, the car and anything else I have that we will not beat San Diego State next week.

All of the talk about how well ku plays against non BCS opponents at home doesn't mean ANYTHING until Mangino can start winning on the road.  2 Big XII road wins in his entire tenure.  Seriously.  And they came against powerhouses Iowa State last year (1-7) and Missouri a few years back(I don't remember their record)

Maybe all that changes this year.  I was pretty impressed with the final score against Central Michigan.  But as fatty pointed out earlier, 2005 we played a North Texas team, Sun Belt champs who had also absolutely crushed Baylor the year before by like 50 points, and turned around and crushed them in similar fashion.

What happened to our season after that?  Well, we started out at OU, thinking we were going to go into Norman and crush them.  (They had already lost to tcu that year, and damn near lost to Tulsa.)  That was the night of the "invisible punter" where we hiked the ball into our own endzone.(We got crushed.)  Ended up with 5 wins that year.

On the flip side, we got abused by Marshall in 2003, and then went on to win the Big XII.

All I'm saying is that, while the win was impressive, you can't really use the turnout of those games to compare yourselves to other BCS teams.  Maybe ku wins 11 games this year.  Maybe they win 5.  You won't be able to tell how you compare to the other Big XII teams until you actually start playing them.

And as I pointed out above, Mangino has to learn to win on the road.

Central Michigan has an entire new staff and is a totally different team from last year.  Lost a lot to graduation as well.  ku put on a good performance but it's obvious Central Michigan didn't come ready to play and is having growing pains with the new staff.  They came out and pissed their pants on the road it sometimes happens.  Toledo did the same thing in Lawrence a few years ago and got all you guys excited and that team turned out to be the same old ku.  Then last year you went out and lost to a lesser Toledo team then the one you spanked so bad.   Weird things can happen in college football especially early on in the season.

You beaks need to temper youselves on this one game.  Just like we need to temper ourselves as well because opening games in college football are so often misleading.  Just look at the freaking Michigan game or the Texas game yesterday.  I suppose you ku fans think you're better then both of those teams too?  If Michigan were to play App State in a few weeks they would beat them 70-0 but on that one day they lost to them.   I remember last year you put a hurting on some patsy in week one and got all big and puffy and then went out the next week and got outplayed and nearly lost to some other crappy mid major.  Both ku and KSU fans should be encouraged but neither need to be talking any smack just yet.

Bottom Line:  ku fans simply cannot predict wins on the road.  Not with Mangino as coach.  Its laughable to guarantee a win on the road if you are ku.  Laughable.

I give you guys until the Texas game before you start seriously breaking down physically (and mentally). With little depth on your roster its just a matter of time. There's a lot of teams that come out and play their asses off during the first week or two then fall apart down the stretch. Yours is one of them that's going to happen to.

That is a dumb statement, we play as many different people as any team in the conference especially on defense.  We're thin at o-tackle but other then the o-line we rotate pretty regularly at most positions.

Good points by all, and I realize I'm being an over-optimistic homer.  I was just awed by the difference in the offense last night.  I cannot express to you how much better Warriner is as o-coordinator.  It's a huge improvement.

I thought Reesing looked great as well.  I know Central Michigan isn't the best secondary we will see this year, but I don't think they're any worse than a team like Iowa State or Baylor.  With Reesing at QB, ku has a guy who can run as well as throw at a high level.  He's not an NFL prototypical QB like Josh Freeman, but he's a guy that will be a great college QB someday.   ku has some weapons and some athletes this year.

I know playing in Manhattan will make a difference, but this team actually played well at Nebraska last season and had a blowout win against ISU.  If K-State's o-line doesn't improve in a hurry, ku might have another turnoverfest with Josh Freeman.

    Fear the Brick
Since we haven't been a consistent football team for a number of years now, I'm trying to view each game independent of each other.  Just because we played well at Auburn (not well enough to win) doesn't mean we'll play with the same intensity vs. San Jose State.  We really haven't shown to be that kind of team (from coaches to players).  I really don't think Auburn is that good of a football team, but that's the first time in a while that we actually shut down a good (allegedly) rushing offense.  I will say that the defense reminded me of how we used to play in that we stopped the run and got beat on some deep passes (Could we please get a tutor to do Josh Moore's homework?).  I still say 6-6, 7-6.
