The top 10 football players headed into the 2007 season according to members of The Garden Telegram sports staff.

1. Brodrick Smith, Quarterback, Garden City, 6-3, 205 pounds (Sr.)

One of the top players in the state, Smith has had college scouts drooling since stepping in as the Buffaloes’ starting quarterback. In 2006, Smith accounted for 2,000 yards of total offense.

2. Reed McAtee, Running Back/Linebacker, Lakin, 6-1, 210 pounds (Sr.)

"McAtee tore up the Hi-Plains League last year after running for 1,232 yards and 12 touchdowns. On defense, McAtee registered 138 tackes from his linebacker spot.

Senior running back Reed McAtee will anchor the Broncs’s backfield after rushing for 1,232 yards and 12 touchdowns last season and garnering all-league honors. Defensively, McAtee also had 138 tackles and six fumble recoveries while playing linebacker."

McAtee was also on the All-State All-Class lists.

I'm sure both of these players will fit well into the Brian Butler-Ron Prince "JUCO First" program.   ;)

McAtee won't go to a JUCO.  He is a talented kid.  He also plays baseball, had a 646 batting average this year.  If he doesn't get any type of scholarship for any sports he will go to a university soley for academics.  He is going to major in medicine.

McAtee is way better at baseball than football. IMO. Having seen him in both.

Also Smith has a half brother, who is a starting RB as a Sophomore, he is very scary.
