Why we won't win...(Don't get me wrong-I'D LOVE A VICTORY LIKE THIS, but being from the south, I'm realistic)
Offense: Sputters in the spotlight of ESPN and the chaotic noise of opening day crowd. James Johnson will find holes hard to come by with the guards getting pushed around and the constant pressure from the outside by Groves and Moss. The linebackers will be everywhere- big and young, they may be inexperienced, but they've got the athletic tools to make up for it. Our best shot may be to throw the ball, especially away from Josh Wilhite. Unfortunately, Freeman won't have the time to find his Wide-Outs often.
Defense: While Auburn's offense isn't anything to ooo and ahhh over, they've got enough weapons to get the job done. The 3-4 defense will stumble. Plays will be made, but more will be lost to the rushing attack put on by Tate and Lester. The line will be anchored by Dunlap and star recruit Ziemba, who will come into his own after the first few series, especially only having to worry about Manu to the outside. And with nobody making a push in the middle, the interior of the O-Line (the most vulnerable) won't have to worry. Wide outs Prechae Rodriguez and Rod Smith will do their part when in need of a big play, but when being covered tight by Moore or Cheatham, look for frosh Chris Slaughter to come through. Speed kills, and to play a 3-4, you've got to have it...everywhere, not just at a few positions. Runs to the outside will be too easy.
Special Teams: Probably our best shot. The Tigers bring inexperience to the kicking game, so we're even. But at punter and returners, we've got a shot. But let's be honest, you can't get all your points from this area and expect to win against this type of opponent.
Go Cats! Just play your best and make it worth watching...
