Spurned by Notre Dame, Texas and many others, UM is finalizing a home-and-home football series with Kansas State.

Good to see.  This is the type of non-conference game that doesn't hurt you too badly if you lose (unlike games with Marshall and Fresno State), does tremendous things for you if you win, and is great exposure either way.

Gee, it would sure be awesome to play Miami (Fla.), but I'm just not sure how I feel about playing a home and home with them, meaning two road games for us..

OMG  I just read the thread on GPC and not only did they guy think that.  He argued his point and asked the admins to clarify what home and home meant.  I really hope that was some teenager who doesn't know any better.

    The very best.
we would get DESTROYED.

Miami is the type of team that can score one offensive touchdown, yet still beat you by 40.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

bad move IMO.  Too many unknowns surrounding KSU football right now to want ANYTHING to do with them.  Even if its a few years away, it makes no sense to, for all practical reasons, go and add an automatic loss.  Why?  There are plenty of quality teams to play until Prince knows for certain that he is a head coach and he has KSU competing for championships.  Then, and only then should he entertain this idea.   :poundon:

well, if you want to play any big games, you have to schedule them 3-5 years out...so why not assume in 3 years you would be competitive enough to take on this type of game.  i like it.

I disagree; I think someone else already pointed out that a loss to a team like Miami isn't near as bad as a loss to someone like Marshall or Fresno State.  "You wanna be the best?  You gotta play the Best"  Just scheduling this game will garner respect; and will serve as a comeback to any cupcake schedule remark.  Also think of the recruiting... There are nothing but positives when playing a game like this.

Also, say Prince isn't ready to be a Head Coach.  Do you think he'll learn to be a better one by knocking off teams like Florida Atlantic?

Bottom Line, When have we ever gone into a bowl game with a perfect record?  Is one loss against a team that is feared and respected year in and year out going to keep us out of a championship?  Only if there are two undefeated teams.

But maybe the biggest positive of all, What if we win?

So wait until you have a team good enough to guarantee a win, then schedule the game for 2-3 years out, and have a whole different team.

I swear, sometimes fans just don't think straight.

This is a good game, and Miami isn't any better than UT or OU.

I can't wait, and hope we have one OCC game a year of this caliber.  Let's line up Virginia next.

Ohhh... You know who else we've never played?  Michigan.

Oh God, I remember a huge "what does home-and-home mean?" debate on KSF a year or two ago. It was fugging ridiculous. Seriously; it was like 3 pages long.

you either move forward or move back.   If this deal is legit, I say bring it on.  Look at what this year brings.  Louisville and Marshall in the OCC.  Miami is name.  Like basketball, Huggs schedules Xaiver for many reasons but it is a name the media knows.  Big time recruits want face time.  If I want exposure where can I go...let's see, in the big 12 Texas plays Ohio State, K-State plays the sisters of Concordia no wait, they play Miami..cool that will make ESPN nationally.

A lot of bandwidth has been wasted arguing Colorado's schedule vs FSnyder philosophy. Yeah Colorado got smacked around most of the time but who was still in the hunt for the north come November and who was trying to get bowl eligible?  Bring on the 'Canes :dancin:

PS, as we continually are asked to donate more to the Ahern fund, Indiana State, Illinois State and Northern Illinois don't cut it anymore.
" and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me," Carl Spackler

Tickets are the cheap part of the deal.

$40 in gas.  $30 in beer.  $15 in steaks.  $10 in other food.  $10 in concessions.  $10 in parking.

That's if I don't hit the Ville with the old lady.

Yeah....I would have loved to see those bad ass teams from 95-03 play vs the best.

But, his method worked.....and worked VERY WELL.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding logic?  I think thinking straight would involve realizing that stating a team today is non-representative of a team in the future, then implies you cannot state that UM will be no better than UT or OU in the future is impossible.  Maybe?  I swear.   8)

For the record;  I never said we should play them, when we're good or no.  What I did say is that there are plenty of quality teams to play in the OOC that are not UM.

We should play them when its for a bowl, be that MNC or no.

I would not be totally against it in the future, a future where we know we belong on the field with them, or at least the them I think they'll continue to be.

Simply enough, or not, the BIG 12 is all the games we need to win a national championship regardless of OOC, as long as the OOC is decent.
