A few points on the UT and CU games.
- You're focusing on the wrong play in the picture. I saw a picture about a year later that CLEARLY showed that BJ Johnson trapped his "TD catch." Sure Dunnigan was awful and a midget, but you still have to catch the ball...and Johnson didn't. Anyone have that picture? I also went back and watched the film and again it looked like a clear trap with a ref. standing within 10 feet of the play. But the picture was completely conclusive.
- As for the FG at the end...ummmm....who anticipated that thing going through. Either kicker could have trotted on the field and the there still would have been a sinking feeling in my gut. We couldn't make a simple XP (early in the year particularly), let alone a game tying FG with just seconds remaining.
- The CU game is still the one that pisses me off the most. Granted it was a great game if you didn't have a dog in the fight, but KSU was much more talented than CU that year. Hell, KSU had just beaten a USC team that absolutely destroyed CU in Boulder weeks before. But on that day, particularly in the first half, everybody on CU's team looked like an All American. Bloom never had a catch even approaching that distance before or since. The midget QB looked like Joe Montana. Bobby Walker should have a permanent shrine erected at the visitor end of the field for his completely crapty play (hamstring injury my ass). Williams had a sack and a fumble in the endzone that got ruled an incomplete pass. Then there was the tackling on the Brown run...or shall I say lack of tackling on the Brown run. I was standing next to the KSU players as they entered the locker room at halftime and they were a beaten bunch. It was amazing to see how they came out in the second half and made a game of it.
But having vented a bit...that run at the end of the year was simply amazing!
