Wanted to see if there would be interest in having a contest for KSUFans.
There are several types of games out there but here's what I'm throwing out there as possibilities.
Games I know of, or have played in.
Top 25 Pick'em - Correctly pick the winners each week of the games involving teams of the AP Top 25. Tie breaker would be the total points scored from the game with the highest ranked team. Overall winner has the highest cumulative score.
Big 12 Pick'em - Correctly pick the winners of the each game played by a Big 12 school. Tie breaker would be the total points scored in the K-State game (or during a KSU bye week, the highest ranked Big 12 team in the AP poll playing that week)
Big 12 Pick'em Plus - Same as the Big 12 Pick'em except we introduce one game from the other conferences during the conference schedule.
Best 10 pick'em - 10 games will be selected each week, you pick the winner. Tie breaker will be total points scored from a selected game.
Best 20 pick'em - Same as the Best 10 pick'em, except 20 games.
College Survivor Series - At the beginning of the year, the Top 30 teams are selected based on the AP Pre-season Poll. Each week, you will pick a team to win it's game. If your pick loses, you're out. Once you use that team, you can't use it again. Last one standing wins, unless there is more than one person at the end.
Pro-Football Games
Weekly Pick'em - Pick the winner of each game, tie breaker is the total points scored monday night football game. Overall winner is the one who has accumulated the most correct picks.
Survivor/Suicide/Progressive - Like College Survivor, you pick a team each week to win. Once you use it, you can't use it again. Your pick loses, you're out. Last one standing wins.
Other Considerations
You can create your own groups within the contest, but that will have no bearing other than bragging rights. I haven't set the parameters for the group size or anything else just yet. Perhaps there are suggestions for it as well.
Prizes
To be determined. Premium memberships help to do things like this (shameless plug) but there are other ways to get prizes. Obviously, visiting our sponsors' websites from the advertising on the pages also help. I'll have that figured out before the games start, but I'd like to be able to give a decent prize for the overall winner(s). (like $100.00 Best Buy card, or Bowl Tickets.. or both..)
We'll run at least one game, and if there is enough interest two. I'm not going to do a bunch of different games or anything like that. If you want to run an office pool, and want me to help run that, I do that during the football season anyway (for a fee for those that want me to help in collecting and managing funds) on a website.
If there are any other suggestions, please give them. The details will be made final by August 15 along with an announcement.
This could turn out to be a lot of fun, if we have a lot of participation. It will be open to all registered members of the board.
