It seems people have such high expectations for a team that is still undergoing a tremendous rebuilding project.

I see the season in 3 portions, divided into 4 game increments.
Aub/SJS/MS/TX-I don't think any reasonable KSU fan expects better than 2-2 with this.  We have bodies now on the OL but the Auburn d line is going to be most likely the elite group we see.  I want us to get out of Aub with Josh in one piece and the new o line guys with a feel of what it big time football is.

ku/CU/OkSt/Bay-This is the section of the schedule that is just screaming for success.  3-1 is a must.  Phillips St U/OkSt is a team that I just don't like despite beating them.  The other 3 home games should be wins.

ISU/NU/MU/FresSt-My hope is by this part of the schedule we are getting full production from all the JuCo kids.  If we are, 3-1 is again the target.  If the JuCo guys are still not in a groove, then 2-2 is most likely.

So I think 7-5 again is what I expect.  With so many teams being bowl eligible and teams getting left in the cold (haha beaks) I feel 7 wins is going to be the minimum number to get to a bowl.

2008 could be an absolutely huge year for us.  NU will be breaking in a new QB.  CU doesn't get me too scared.  Beaks could be with a new coach.  ISU is going to be bad for a long time.  MU loses 2 good o lineman, Franklin, Rucker, and Temple to be paired with some starters on defense.  Sweeping the north is a true possibility with other teams losses and how many starters we return.

super,
Other than saying he coach at UT how about you give something else to support your claim.  I guess I don't get excited about a coach that was the DB coach of a team that had the talent Texas did in the secondary and still ended up being #99 in the country in pass defense.  Did you not see KSU rip that secondary apart last season?  UT is full of tremendous talent but they were flat out awful in terms of execution.  How about Iowa making their secondary look awful too?

Chizik is a decent coach but he isn't as good as advertised.  Also, do you expect ISU to recruit well?  The talent in Iowa is bad.  There is almost no JuCo talent there.  His staff is largely composed of guys from areas that will not be attracted to ISU-the southeast.

Yes, I know that he is not a great coach, I am just saying that ISU will be better this year than last year due to the changes in staff.  I think they will recruit better but, not as well as us and NU.

    The very best.
6-8 wins.

8 would be excellent.
7 Would be nice.
6 would by okay/a little disapointing.

I can't see many scenarios where we don't end up with 6-8 wins (in the reg. season) unless we are a lot WORSE or BETTER than any of us expect.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

There is a real chance we only win one road game and only lose one home game.

Oh, and great point about 08. Hadn't thought about it.

I do worry about the conference schedule, OU and @aTm are 2 pretty sure losses.

    DOD Take Two
I am a sunshine pumper, so my predictions for KSU is always best it could turn out.... So I will post my more accurate/realistic prediction for the Big 12.... Texas will go 5-3 in Big 12 play next year. Kid you not. With loses to three of these five teams (KSU, NU, OU, A&M and possibly OSU) All five of these teams have a shot against the biggest ego's of the league. Three of them will win.

I think we go 1-11.

We go on the road and upset Auburn in a game that no one gives us a chance to win.

Then we start running our mouths and kissing our own @sses and we lose the next eleven.

I agree, except I'd say 6 would be more than a little disappointing.  We're kind of set up to win 6 games.  And I don't know what Prince would be able to sell to recruits of we finish with 6 wins and don't go bowling.

2008 should be the breakout year, if there is ever going to be one under Prince.

Knock on Snyder's scheduling all you want, but his teams were set up for national title runs on a number of different occasions, and playing softies in the preseason had nothing to do with them not getting to that goal.

8-4 seems reasonable to me. Maybe 9-3 if we win a road game that we probably won't be favored in (at Texas or at Nebraska). One thing we can't afford is another Baylor.

Check the archives, I've been saying that since spring ball.

I am guessing you heard the same thing about how we don't look good with the offseason conditioning stuff and the o line is at the head of that group. :banghead:

That is pretty much the same with me. If we don't go bowling that would definitely a major disappointment.

If we can go 6-6, we'll be lucky considering how we finished last year and the offense showed exactly zippo in the spring game.    Even KWho could score in their spring game.
