Texas . . . our real rival.

It'd be interesting to get Texas' take on that.  They'd probably giggle.
Only team in the Big XII other than OU to have a winning record against Mack Brown (I think).

That certainly doesn't make them think of KSU as a rival.  Oklahoma, A&M, Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma St., Tech, Ohio St. (after the games these past two years), and maybe even Colorado would be considered greater rivals for Texas.  But hey, your perspective may be a bit different coming from the KSU side of things.
Wow. I thought that you might possess some intelligence. I guess not. We've owned Texas recently (basketball, football, and baseball). They want to beat us almost as much as they want to beat OU. We &*$@!ed up their national title hopes last year. We injured their quarterback which was one of the reasons they lost to Texas A&M. Texas hates us.

Alright then.  Go to a Longhorn board and tell then that KSU is just a smidge below OU on their rivalry scale.  Above all the other teams I listed.  See what their response is.  One year does not make a rivalry.  They have a bit of history with the likes of OU, A&M, and Arkansas.  They view last year's KSU game as nothing more than a fluke.
Maybe you didn't understand it when I said that we own them. We always beat them. We are one of two Big XII schools to have a winning record against them in Big XII play. They want to beat us more than anyone else (save Oklahoma). Seriously, I thought everyone knew this. It's the same reason that USC thinks we're their rivals. We are undefeated against them in football and basketball. They hate us.

My goodness man.  Go to a Texas or USC board and tell them that KSU is their rival.  You would be laughed at.  Texas would much rather beat A&M than KSU.  Are you kidding?  USC has won a few national titles since KSU and USC played.  KSU isn't a blip on their radar.  Rivalries have to have a sense of history to them.  USC/Notre Dame, USC/UCLA, Texas/OU, Texas/A&M; those are rivalries.  Those are games that have been played where both teams were in the national title hunt.  Texas/KSU and USC/KSU, not so much.  You're just adding to the belief that KSU fans don't realize football existed before Snyder.  Get a historical perspective.  They believe last year's game to be nothing but a fluke.  My goodness, how could they think anything else with KSU's performance the next week.

Texas fans certainly see OU, A&M, Arkansas, and Nebraska as bigger rivals.  They have played games with these teams that have meant a lot more than last year's KSU/UT game.  Don't kid yourselves, Longhorn fans don't consider KSU that big a rival.  I know quite a few of them, they just don't.

You're delusional. When will you Nub fans realize that we aren't your rivals. You guys need to realize this and just settle with ku and Colorado. We'll take UT and USC. We can actually beat them. You went 0fer against them last year.

I know this defeats the whole purpose of the either or, but if we beat a top 25 team on the road (UT) and then lose to ku at home I will be pissed.  I know UT would be a huge win, but I just want to see ku lose by a million billion pts. every single game they play in any sport.

that historical UT Ohio State matchup you cited earlier validates your theory.

The UT fans I know can't even tell me the Nebraska score from last year.  Its a given they win that game.  They sure as heck know KSU beat them though.

Winning the North is the goal. If we lose at home to ku, there is no way we win the North. As evidenced by 2003, losing on the road to a South school does not kill the dream. If push comes to shove, not many of you (I know I'd puke) could watch the chicks walk out of our stadium with a win. The home streaks against ku and MU better not get wrecked by Prince or the coaching seat will be warm in  November.

Recruits will say, "Oh man, I watched KSU beat Texas, I was there, the biggest upset of the week, it was awesome!"

Recruits from Kansas never say, "Oh man, I watched ku beat KSU, I was there, the biggest upset of the week, it was awesome!"

I'd rather beat Texas.

Trust me, not Nebraska guy.  Though I did buy a desk and chair at the Nebraska Furniture Mart.  Can you believe the deals there!?!?

Someone go on the Scout or Rivals board for Texas and ask (without letting them know what school you represent)  who their top three rivals are.  My guess is OU, A&M, and Arkansas.  KSU might get a mention from those who've only followed football the past year.

How often does Texas even play Arkansas? They weren't on their schedule last year. They aren't on it this year. They play us twice every four years. They play Arkansas far fewer times. Usually teams go out of there way to schedule rivals in the non-con if they are actually out of conference rivals. You're just jealous that UT doesn't think of NU as a rival. That's what happens when you get owned by a school. If NU was actually worth a damn then UT would give a crap.

My Lord man.  Not a Nebraksa fan.  Though I can think of a NU/Texas game far more important and exciting than the KSU/Texas game last year.  James Brown on 4th and 1 ring a bell?  Knocked them Huskers out of a National Title game.

Showing your short sightedness on the Arkansas deal.  Football did take place before KSU decided to become relevant.  Former SWC rivals.  Played numerous games with national title implications.  It doesn't matter how often they play now, the two schools despise each other.  Using the argument you just gave, how can you support the KSU/USC rivalry argument that you've tried to present?  How often do KSU and USC play each other?  And you're trying to claim that as a rivalry?  Circular reasoning at it's best.

I don't think of USC as a rival. More of as our bitch. They hate us, but we aren't rivals because we don't play often enough. We knocked UT out of title contention with 45-42. The Arkansas/UT rivalry is a dead one. They don't play anymore. They would play more often if their was actual interest. Go to the UT board and ask them what they think of K-State. They will say they hate us. What makes a rivalry a rivalry? Hatred and frequently playing eachother. Hm, two things that UT and KSU have. Once again, just because NU can only remember Sal Is Dead, Go Big Red and ku spanking you guys in Lawrence doesn't mean you Nubbies have to be ticked off at us because we have 45-42 and 73-72.

Who got spanked in Lawrence this year?  I know, because I was there.  At the NU and KSU games.  And once again it takes more than one year to make a rivalry.  People will forget 45-42 and 73-72 pretty quickly outside of Manhattan.

Not a Nub fan.  Though I'm not sure how you can trash them, what with the national titles and all.  And them beating you last year.  And the year before.

And that is the story about how we exposed the Nubb sock.

If NU was actually worth a damn then UT would give a @#%$.

Alright, Nub. How do you not understand that we've owned them since the creation of the Big XII? It hasn't been just one year. We are 3-2 against UT in Big XII play. Only one other team has a winning record against them. Your beloved Nubbies aren't that team. Only a Nub would bring up the horrible thing that happened in Lawrence last year. We lost because Josh had the flu, a broken hand, and ulcers. Are you really going to hold that against him? crap man. You're sloooooooooooooooooow.

The flu, a broken hand, and ulcers?  Shazam!  Kid shoulda got a purple heart.  But all he got was a loss.  And 3-2 is owning somebody?  Wow.  Once again, is Texas aware KSU is their rival?  Possibly only below OU.

Nub fans can't be this retarded, can they? And yes, in fact Josh Freeman does have a purple heart. He's EMAW all the way.  :ksu: I bet you bleed red.

Long time reader of this site, discovered it searching for info on Arthur Brown... but I must say that you're delusional if you think Kansas State is a "rival" of Texas.  My buddy is a UT fan and he's laughing at your claim that a 3-2 record is ownership.  Sure UT fans hate KSU, but they don't consider yall rivals.  Beat em in Austin this fall and I could see them start identifying you as a rival.

By the way... you seem pretty positive that Brown will be a Wildcat.  Is that because of inside info or anything in particular?  I've seen some vids of him and having Urban see him in person means we want him BAD.  Just as long as he doesn't go to F$U!

ku.

I think that gives us a better football team.  We don't dominate ku in recruiting anymore.  Looking at their coach and their record for the last 10 years, that should never happen.  There should never be a recruit that compares K-state and ku and says "Hmm I think I'll choose Kansas."  When ku beats us, it gives them a tool to use against us in recruiting.  Without that victory, they have nothing.  We have better facilities, we get more players drafted, we have more football recognition, we use NFL schemes, we have better/more passionate football fans, we get more TV time, we play better teams, we have more successful seasons, etc etc etc.

When we beat Texas, I love it.  But beating them doesn't help us recruit, our recent recruiting proves that.  And we won't have a game that gets as much talktime/publicity as last years shootout on primetime ABC.

Kansas high school recruits should belong to us by default, and ku should be picking up our leftovers.  Same goes with the Texas leftovers that we compete for.

Dude..Texas isn't our rival.  They have to WIN once and a while to be considered a rival.  We pretty much own them right now.  We have a winning record against them in football, and even in basketball(which we have sucked at for a long time) we destroy them, despite top 10 rankings.

Not to mention scoreboard over them in both major sports, the football game knocking them out of national championship contention, and the basketball game ending a twenty something win streak at home.

Texas is our bitch.

Don't try to reason with 'em, my friend.  It'll only confuse 'em and make 'em more irrational.
