"They were some of the earliest collegiate sports-related riots in the United States."

I was at all three games.

Didn't make the riot in '84 was a junior in HS and went with my folks, I did get on the north goalpost, when it came down I went home.

'86 was in Aggieville and was walking in the alley behind what is now Pat's BBQ, when a mad rush of the crowd came running at us, we ducked into a doorway to let 'em by and a tear gas hit about 50' from us...we hoofed it out of there, but caught a small whiff of the gas...quite an unpleasant experience.

'87 game was truly rotten.  Aggieville was a tomb.  We went and drank somewhere else.

Damn. It's no longer there. :(

I saved that thing on my computer for some reason but don't have the slightest idea how I could link it.  Could e-mail it to somebody who can.

I see my name is being used again.

No, I didn't cause the riot.  I was just in the front when it all started.  I remember being near the VW when it was tipped.  It was a crazy night.  I was pretty well drunk.

And yes, I was a sophomore.

God, do I feel old.

Jmart, I hope you're reading this.  It's the scoop of a lifetime.  MJROD and KSUfans are responsible for the riots in aggieville.

WOW, MJ. Thanks for that link. Very informative and interesting. Wouldn't you LOVE to see pictures from begining to end? Or pics of the bonfires, rallies, riots, hippies sitting on the sidewalks, etc.? Anyone have any, or know where to find some?????   :-[

I remember everyone having to explain even the simplest things to you, so I can imagine why you're confused about this.

Picture?  You mean like photographs?  This was pre-digital.  Who in their right mind takes a camera to a riot? If you take any camera to a riot then the rioters would likely kick your ass for taking pictures.  Do you people not know riot etiquette?  Really!  Do us OLD guys have to explain? :shy: :users:

Like a news person couldn't have taken any pictures? Especially in 1986 when they were "prepared" for another POSSIBLE riot. Also, there REALLY should be some pictures somewhere of the very early years, rallies, etc.

Don't misunderstand, there were pictures.  News crews got attacked by mobs for taking them.  Some people were arrested for trying to get the cameras.  Let me clue some of you in.  During a riot its a mob mentality for most of the people present.  Normal behavior does not apply.  You have a camera and someone may just swing a bat at your head.  Its a very scary place to be.  It was dangerous there even for KSU fans.  ku fans literally ran like their lives depended upon it. They sorta did.  Lokking back it doesn't seem as bad.  But I clearly remember a lot of us having some very close calls.  The feeling at the time from most of us students was that it was a good time that was was taken out of control my a relatively small group of non-students high or drunk.  You have to remember the context of the times. Half the people I knew then were stoned by saturday night.
