He's 6'2 and runs a 4.39 in the 40

 :loly:

4.39?  Umm..more like a 4.5

He's been clocked around 4.4 at ku a couple times. Rivals is not accurate (if that's your source).

And I'm not going to compare him to Newman. That would be stupid at this point.

Much like sports message boards.

Which you are on right now.   :ustupid:

Precisely. Are we not writing/reading "pure retarded speculation" every day on sports boards?

Actually my source was the scout combine prior to his senior year.  The scout combines use former NFL scouts to time players so it's very accurate.  At that combine he measured 6-0.5 and ran a 4.59.  I won't say he didn't grow or get quicker but I doubt very seriously he is a 4.39...Figurs ran a 4.35 at the combine this year, officially.  The 4.30 was hand timed and Talib is not in the ballpark of Figurs speed...or Newman's for that matter.

Now I will say that Talib is an absolute stud and I have said that since I saw him in a spring practice way back in '05.  He's big and he flat out balls.  But he's not 6-2 4.39 and the only way he goes top 5 is if next year's draft for corners is as bad as this year's.  I doubt he'll rate as high as OU's Andre Woolfolk did coming out of OU and he didn't go until the middle of the first round.

But to bring up in said boards, a mock draft of an event that is 363 days away and attempt to give it validation is rediculous.  So many things can happen in the next year, a mock draft for '08 right now is a joke.  It's extreme, but for all we know Talib could be dead by then.  Mangina probably will be dead, which could improve Talib's draft potential.

At that combine he measured 6-0.5 and ran a 4.59.

Cornish was timed as 4.6 (pre-freshman season), 4.67 (NFL Combine), 4.5 (ku Pro Day). It's not surprising that numbers vary.

Look at any video or pictures of Talib from this past season. He is every bit of 6'2" (his official listing by kuAD) and just under 200lb now. He just needs to work on tackling fundamentals this year (and next year if he's still around).

And to be clear, I'm not saying he'll be a top 5 or even top 20 pick. That doesn't happen to many CB or S out there.

I really don't care about small variations...whether he ran a 4.67 at the combine and a 4.56 on pro timing day...so what?  I guess you don't realize just how fast a 4.39 is...he's not 4.3.

As for your "proof" about Talib's height...lol.  Proof is watching how he appears on video?  He's a long athlete and long athletes look taller than they might be.  I guess it's possible he's grown 1.5" since his senior year in high school but not likely.

And, no, the roster ht means nothing.  Rodney Allen is listed at 6-3 on your '06 roster and the pro scouts measured him at 6-1.

Not sure why you keep arguing..Talib is good and everybody here knows it.  You don't have to try to keep selling 6-2 and 4.3...he's plenty big and he'll be plenty quick.  He's a stud.

Exactly.  I was listed at 6'6" on my HS Bball roster, and I didn't hit 6'4" until my freshman year in college.  Listings by AD's are almost always fudged, at any school.

I'd say he's closer to 5 1/2 inches...

Yea. It helps that the talent pool must be down... I mean seriously, Talib in the top 25?

He's an alright corner, but do you really think he could shut down the 6'4" 220 WR's that run 4.4's in the NFL?

The #1 pick in the draft will likely be a runningback or quarterback.  Teams far enough in the dumper to have a #1 pick usually need one of the two, and those two positions make the biggest impact on a team immediately.

Sam Keller, anyone?  :peek:

Guys, cut BMW some slack.  You know that SI is almost always dead on with their predictions.  They did pick Florida to win it all in Basketball this year didn't they?  Or did they pick a team who barely got past the sweet 16?

Top 5 pick is rediculous.  Maybe if he played at a football school, he could sniff the top 10.  Although playing for ku, you do get more experience tackling other men (mostly in bedrooms) :ku:

Well, ku did beat Florida last season.  The NCAA Tournament is tough, but you guys wouldn't know much about that.

LOL @ 'Hatter

Talib is a legit 6'2 and runs a 4.39.  That's exactly why Talib is projected as a first round draft pick next season.

LOL@BMW for believing player bio stats in a media guide.

It doesn't matter what Talib does during the pre-season.  It only matters what he does during the season.  Assuming he can stay away from Taco Bell drive thru's, not steal other people's credit cards, and not get any women pregnant, he could definitely have a good season at ku.

Yeah, you've gotta be pretty naive to beleive what's in the media guide.  Remember when Prince remeasured our entire team and Dylan Meier lost 2-3 inches off his height?  That was pretty amusing.

Talib is an all world corner and a top 5 NFL prospect...........

just like ku's D won't fall off much after losing Reid, Kane, Floodman, Charlton, and Gordon

 :violin:

ku fans have to get excited about something in football.  After all, they can't finish in the top half of the North (11 yrs and counting) and they can't go .500 or better in the Big 12 (11 years and counting.    Scary Smart did both in year one with little experience in his back pocket.

ku is 2-19 in Big 12 games away from Lowrents..... and this year they have to play 5 of their 8 away from their home field.    Say hello to another 2-3 win Big 12 season despite an all big 12 CB
