5. Aqib Talib

"A shutdown cover man with terrific size and athleticism, Talib has the ability to play cornerback or safety."

It doesn't matter he goes to ku, he won't be drafted.  Just look at their all-world RB Cornish, he should of been a top 3 pick, probably would have if he wasn't a squawk.

hey, even though i hate ku, i gotta say Talib is a great DB. but i'm not so sure i'd rank him ahead the likes of limas sweed, steve slaton, desean jackson, keith rivers, and vince hall...maybe this year will prove me wrong though

Talib has a better shot to get drafted than Gordon did imho.

Wow, only a day removed from the '07 draft and the squawks are already starting the "well, next year..." threads.

Charles Gordon was just a natural football player.  He had average size and speed, but his intangibles and football skills were good enough to get him to the NFL (he plays CB for the Minnesota Vikings).

Aqib Talib is on a completely different level as far as athleticism.  He's 6'2 and runs a 4.39 in the 40.  Sports Illustrated ranks him the 5th-best NFL prospect in the '08 draft class.  He'll definitely be the best player on the field again next year when ku plays K-State.

I love the jabs at Cornish, by the way.  Hilarious.  He was only the Big 12's leading rusher and ran for over 200 yards and scored 2 TD's against your weak-ass team.

No you don't. You wish we were respectful, and praising him.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Lawrence harboring a 1st round draft pick for '08?  NO.  Should Talib get drafted, yes.  He's got the talent, of course he does have that big ole ku stamp on him.  And we all know what that does for potential draftees.

ku's not the problem.  It's the fact that Cornish and Gordon ran 40's in the high 4.5 to low 4.6 range that hurt their chances of getting drafted in the NFL.

LOL @ Terrance Newman blowing up the Combine with sub 4.4 40 times, a 41-inch vertical jump, an 11-foot, four-inch broad jump and running the short shuttle in 3.83 seconds.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Not many NFL teams know ku plays football.  It might as well be the Big 11.

Analysts projected that Cornish would get drafted.  Didn't happen.  And now they're projecting that Talib will be a top 5 pick in '08?  Before the '07 season even starts?  A lot can happen in a year, ALOT!  He'll get drafted, but not top 5.  Keep up the  :chirp: argayle, it's hilarious.

People who create, follow, or think mock drafts are rock solid debate sources need to be eliminated from the population in order to increase the nations overall IQ.  I could create a mock draft page and fill the 2008 draft with nothing but KSU players.  Would it be accurate?  Hell No!  Mock drafts, unless they are created shortly before the actual draft, are pointless.  Pure retarded speculation.  The lowest form of sports analysis.

 :loly:

4.39?  Umm..more like a 4.5 but for a big corner who plays like he does it's plenty quick.  He'll be drafted high but not Newman high.

Much like sports message boards.

These are two outsiders with no personal preference towards KSU, ku or the Big 12. Just thought an outside perspective might help. I'm sure Mel Kiper will have Talib in his top 30 or so when he starts his next mock draft.
