Great ability to get kids to the next level for Mangino......

2007: NO ONE
2006: NO ONE
2005: David McMillan, 5th (139), DE, Cleveland Browns
2004: Adrian Jones, 4th (132), OL, NY Jets
2003: NO ONE
2002: Nate Dwyer, 4th (113), DT, Arizona Cardinals
Justin Hartwig, 6th (187), OL, Tennessee Titans

4 players in the NFL in six years for Mangino. Prince already has 3 in just one year.

Don't ku football recruits get it???? Mangino going 11-29 in conference play with only one of those wins being away from Lawrence, which was at a terrible ISU team in Ames this year.

Selling point for ku football recruits:

Win a couple of Big XII games per year during your career at ku and than, with Mangino calling the shots, you're career is finished. Not a sniff for you in the NFL.

I love Mangino as a head coach. Please Lew keep giving him raises and extending his contracts!!!!!!

He's getting better year by year!!!! :shy:

Don't fire Mangino!!!!!!!!!! :P

Well, Talib will get drafted next year at least.

If Mangino gets anything less than 7 wins this year, he needs to be canned on the spot.

And Gordon left early.  He didn't get drafted but he knew his best chance was to jump ship asap.  Another year with Mangino and he wouldn't even have a chance to tryout.

If Talib doesn't get drafted, then Mangino's failure will be complete.

The guy is good.  Not as good as TNew, but definitely good enough to get drafted.

He's also tall enough, unlike Gordon. And I agree, if Talib doesn't get drafted, Mangino should be canned on the spot.

Mangino can at least say he's gotten players he recruited drafted, Prince hasn't.
Comparing Prince getting Snyder's players drafted to Mangino's situation isn't really appropriate.

If you want to crap on ku football there are far easier/better arguments that can be made.  hth.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

no.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Didn't anyone take Cornish in the draft?

I really only paid attention to the NU players, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.

Just curious but wouldn't heehave done a little recruiting at Virginia?  Or are talking about strictly as a head coach?

Actually this is Mangino's drafts.  The 2002 draft was held in the Spring of 2002...Mangino was hired following the '01 season which means Hartwig and Dwyer never played a down for the fat man.  Mangino's first draft would be 2003 where he had draftable players who played for him at ku.

2007: NO ONE
2006: NO ONE
2005: David McMillan, 5th (139), DE, Cleveland Browns
2004: Adrian Jones, 4th (132), OL, NY Jets
2003: NO ONE

Jones was a true freshman at ku in '99 and McMillan in '00 so Mangino never had a thing to do w/ either's recruitment to Lawrence.

So Mangino has never had a player recruited to ku under his watch who has been drafted.  That has not happened for Prince obviously but my guess is that Rob Jackson will go in the draft next year so Prince will have one by his second season...Mangino might get Talib in if he leaves early after next year.

What's more important, having guys like Clayton get drafted who will never see a minute of time on the field, or having more talented players top to bottom in your program?  It wasn't until we started having sustained success on the field that scouts started taking our players seriously as potential NFL caliber players.
It's not completely out of scope to say that Mangino has had more talent over the past few years than we have, you jut haven't seen much results given the fact that he can't coach his way out of a paper bag.

Next year we'll probably only have Jackson, and Jordy as legitimate prospects.

Perhaps.  Depending how they perform, guys like Norwood, Roland, Baldwin, Johnson, and Garvin could possibily get a look.  For example I'd think if Diles was able to get drafted, Roland would have a shot depending on his season.
