5. The next big thing: There's no debating the Class of 2009 is drastically better than the Class of 2008. Thanks to Renardo Sidney, Xavier Henry, John Riek and Lance Stephenson -- I've seen them all; they're all really good -- the nation's best rising juniors are superior to the nation's best rising seniors, and another Class of 2009 star who proved his worth here at the Peach Jam is a kid named DeShonte Riley.

He's really good too.

Riley is a 6-9 center who had eight points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks in the title game, this after getting nine points, 14 rebounds and 11 blocks in the semifinals. He plays for The Family and is being recruited by all the big hitters like Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Kansas State and Georgetown. But I'm confident Kenny Payne jotted Riley's number on a piece of paper before heading back to Oregon, and if I were him I'd get you-know-who on the phone, ASAP.

2. The hire: Though Richardson's New York Gauchos program is thriving (the 16-and-under team also won the Peach Jam), it's doubtful he'll be with it much longer. Multiple sources have told CBS SportsLine.com that Richardson will finish the summer and then join Sean Miller's staff at Xavier, where he will, presumably, be expected to provide players from his talent-rich program.

"I can't talk about that," Richardson said when asked about the move to Xavier. But it's worth noting he was laughing pretty loud, and why not? The guy is positioned to be the next in a long line of summer coaches scooped up by Division I programs seeking any advantage possible.

Dalonte Hill went from the D.C. Assault summer program to Charlotte in exchange for the commitment of Michael Beasley. But before Beasley ever made it to Charlotte, Hill moved to Kansas State. So Beasley, of course, is now going to Kansas State.

Meantime, Byron Smith went from the Houston Swoosh summer program to Texas A&M. Credit incoming freshman DeAndre Jordan as the reason.

It's widely anticipated that Chris Walker, coach of the T-Mac All-Stars summer program in Houston, will soon join Steve Alford's staff at New Mexico. So don't be surprised when it happens, or when some of Walker's players follow him to Albuquerque.

And it's no secret Billy Gillispie still has an opening on his staff at Kentucky, and I'll bet you an autographed picture of Ashley Judd that it's eventually filled with somebody from the summer circuit who just so happens to be connected to a talented prospect.
