Frank Martin is going to have his moments, good and bad, during the 2007 season. He will make some first-year head coaching mistakes, the fans just have to be ready for that. Hopefully, Martin will also have moments where he rises to the occasion and inspires the players and the team wins a game or two it otherwise shouldn't.
I see recruiting taking a hit over the next year, for a couple or reasons. One, Martin has other responsibilities, and cannot solely focus on the recruiting. Two, recruits may take a "wait-and-see" approach as to whether Martin can coach and develop them for the next level.
If the 2007 season ends positively, NCAA Tourney berth - even a win or two, Martin will have that much more credibility to sell recruits. Even if Beasley and Walker leave, as is suspected they will do, if they have a positive experience, that will go towards solidifying K-State's reputation on the hardwood. Of course, if 2007 goes the other way and players abandon ship, well, K-State is all too familiar with starting over.
