Over; Royals 72 up 90 down.  They'll certainly be better, but they are playing in a difficult division to get alot better in.

70 should probably be the goal, anything above that would be a great sign.  sad as that is.

Currently on pace for about 40.

I think they started out slower last year.  Don't worry, they'll be in it through the last week of September.

the royals were 5-17 last april, including an 11 game losing streak and zero wins on the road.  i think they can do slightly better this year.  maybe.

this royals team sucks as usual, but if they can get some of the young talent to improve as the season goes on, they should be able to avoid 100 losses. but as of right now, things look terrible. kietz had statistics on friday that showed that at this point in the season, the royals have a collective offense that is almost identical to the numbers Angel Berroa had last season  :yuck: i don't even like the royals, but i'd like to see them at least do somewhat good

This team can't gradually get better.  They have to nuke it from orbit and start over.  Wake me up when that happens.

"This is a heckuva lot better team than we've had in the past since I've been here, but it feels the same," Bell said. "It cannot feel the same. It shouldn't feel the same. And it's my responsibility and the players' responsibility to make a difference. That's why we're here. If we do not feel like we can make a difference, we should not be here."

Good lord, it's only the beginning of May.

Somebody should demote the Kansas City Royals to AAA.  I don't mean the players.  I mean the organization.  Maybe the mayor could do it, maybe MLB, maybe Denny Matthews, someone.

The Royals are on a bit of a role. They're almost .500 in their last 10 games and have gone 7-8 since starting 3-11. If my math is correct, and that's always iffy, this puts them on pace to finish in the 72 win range. Granted.....They probably won't continue this pace but I'm almost willing to guarantee that they WILL NOT lose 100.

The Royals are 38-50 at the All Star Break. If they play at their current pace for the rest of the season (easier said then done since the 2nd half starts with a road trip to Cleveland, Boston and Detroit before they come home to play the Yankees) they'll finish 70-92. So I'll reset the number.....

O/U 69.5 wins for the Royals this season?

The number is actually 2 games lower then it was in April even though this team is obviously better then it has been in years!!!!! :banghead:

For the record I'm saying.....Over!

Last year the Royals were 31-56 at the All Star Break on their way to a 62-100 (.383) season.

If they stay on their 2nd half pace from last season (when they won 31 games in the 2nd half) they're still going to finish 69-93 (.426) which will be a 5% increase in their winning %. Of course it all hinges on that road trip to start the 2nd half.

GMDM has said that he wants the team to finish .500 by next season and compete for the playoffs by 2009. If you remember how awfully this season started, 8-18 in April, us finishing somewhere around 69 wins (being only 12 games from .500) would have to make GMDM Executive of the Year in MLB or something, wouldn't it?

http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation/polling?event_id=3013

The main reason I brought this up is because on ESPN's SportsNation page they have a poll with the question "Will the Pirates and Royals ever win again?". The poll is incredibly inaccurate because of the points that I brought up in my two posts.

They just showed on SportsCenter that the Phillies were trying to avoid their 10,000th all time loss yesterday. According to my math, which is always a hit and miss proposition, the Royals have 3,133 losses all time which isn't even close to the Phillies let alone the worst franchise in sports which we are if you listen to the national media.

The importance of this topic.....Well that's up for debate but it's the All Star Break in baseball and it's not quite football season yet so you have to find things to talk about where you can get them.

The Philadelphia Phillies became a franchise in 1883.  The Kansas City Royals became a franchise in 1969.  Good comparison you f'ing idiot.
