If Hannah's mother wanted him to play for a black coach, it's stupid to assume that it's because of race.
No, what's stupid is that statement. If Hannah's mom wanted him to play for a black coach because he is black as opposed to white, then it's ALL about race. If race is taken into account in any way, shape, or form, then race is a factor. Period. And that's not an assumption.
No, it's not all about race. You're just a racist if you can't see past the reality. BTW: I'm hispanic. I suppose that if I choose to have someone make taco's and I only want mexican's.. I guess it's because it's about race?
The problem you have here is understanding what she really wants. It's wrong of you to assume that it's all because of race. If you do, then who is really hung up on race? Like I said, she more than likely wants a positive black role model for her son. There is nothing wrong with that.. period.
Go get yourself a mocha latte and call it day before you say something even more profoundly stupid.
Profoundly stupid? I don't give a f*ck whether you're black, white, brown, yellow, or green...if you acknowledge someone's race when making a personnel decision, then race is most certainly "a part of it." It's pretty simple.
Let's take a look-see a little analogy, shall we?
I want to buy a car. I compare two models: A and B. I decide that Model A is really the better car based on all-around performance. However, I've always had this thing for red cars, and Model A isn't available in red; Model B is. In the end, I buy Model B.
Now, would you say Model B played a part in my decision, or would you actually be so bold as to say, "If kougar wanted a red car, it's stupid to assume that it's because of paint color"?
Listen, I know where you and KK are going with your arguments, but in this day and age, when it comes down to a player choosing one coach over another—not because of the coach's track record, style of play, or program, but because of the color of his skin—then yes, his decision was "because of race."
I suppose that if I choose to have someone make taco's and I only want mexican's.. I guess it's because it's about race?
For that analogy to work, you'd have to assume that black people naturally make better basketball coaches than white people. That what you're claiming?
