Definitely in a Darwinian sense! All he has to do is keep breathing until the others succumb to a dirtnap. Couple years? I don't think coaches are allowed to stroll the side line in wheel chairs or those nifty 3 wheel Seniorcycles Medicare pays for.

His reputation is built on some very good defenses at Clemson.  However, if you go check out the Clemson depth chart at Rivals you will find that the Tigers average close to four stars across the two deep on D.  I would surmise that a lot of guys could put a good d on the field with that level of depth and talent....especially against the rather weak state of the ACC these days.

It will be interesting to see how well he does with the current "talent" at KSU which more closely resembles the guys he had while he was HC at Wyoming and put up a 5-29 record against a largely pathetic schedule. He's also going to be facing much tougher offenses than those of the ACC.

Yup! They've recruited quite a few 5 star DE's that have turned out pretty well, and if you've got a good pass rush, it makes everything easier.  Hopefully this guy can make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t (not you Harold!)

As crappy as the defense was last year when I look at things next year the defense is going to be easily more talented then the offense.   There is just nothing at all to work with on offense.  You've got a 5'5" receiver and nothing else.  I got to looking at things and no wonder Ludwig bolted.  You've got no QB, no RB, limited WR's, and an OL that is average on it's best day. 

On defense you've got holes but you've got some potential standouts to work with guys like Harold, Fitzgerald, J Moore etc.  People rip on the DL but the DL is going to be the most talented unit KSU has next year on either side of the ball.

Seems to me it would be a sport in which we were very successful, like soils judging, since we were national champs. I could see an assistant moving on to a soils judging powerhouse like UW-Platteville or even Auburn.
