Quote
After two days of sales, K-State had already taken orders for nearly three-fourths of its ticket allotment with about 7,000 tickets committed, athletics director Tim Weiser said.

they've sold nearly 4500, which is impressive to me.

I wonder how many have been sold through ticketmaster. I was checkin around on there for the best available seats on the KSU side and there wasn't jack. Best seating on the 3rd deck for 3 tickets in a row was like the 10 yd line.  Went ahead and went through ksu ticket office, even though in the 8 bowls i've been to, had decent at best seats one time (and that was the copper bowl)

i've never gotten better tickets through the ksu ticket office than i could directly through the bowl.

Yep, the Copper Bowl is the only one I was able to get decent tickets for via KSU.  I went with scalpers for most of the rest.

I'm assuming that KSU will sell their school allotment (10,000?), but what are the current estimates on how many Cats will be in Houston?

25,000? 30? 35? :katpak:

The more the better.

15k if we're lucky.  KSU has sold 9k and the Houston Bowl sold 35k before the teams were announced but only an additional 6k since.  This isn't going to be an excellent KSU turnout. :frown:

Fortunately, your calculations are off.  The bowl includes the team allotments in the 33k that were sold before the match-up was announced. They also include all the tickets purchased by ticket agencies.  When the figure of 7,000 of our allotment had sold was leaked, I calculated we had about 20K K-Staters going based on the poll of how people were buying their tickets on GPC. Right now, I think we're at around 24-27K.

Who the hell would want to go? It's the freakin Texas Bowl...there are women's lacrosse matches that will probably drawn more in attendance, and be picked up by an actual network.

The funniest part is that ESPN televises bowling, pool tournaments, and dog shows, yet whan it comes to the "Texas Bowl" they passed. That speaks volumes to how relevant this matchup of also-rans is.

The sad part is that as pathetic as your attempts to talk smack are, they're slightly better than your team's ability to play football.

The Texas Bowl...matching up the second best team from Kansas, and about 8th best in a 12 team conference against a Cinderella team whose clock struck midnight about two months ago...how compelling....

The 2006 Texas Bowl will be televised live nationally on NFL Network at 7 p.m. CST on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Reliant Stadium. The Texas Bowl held the third selection among BIG EAST affiliated bowls and the eighth slot among Big 12-affiliated bowls.

Well looks like you have a live game, but still on a network that no one gets. Of course since no one would be interested in watching it anyway, the fact that no one gets it probably won't trouble anyone.

Looks like the Texas Bowl had the eighth slot among Big 12 teams, funny that you lasted that long...

I get NFL Network, everyone who subscribes to  DISH or DirectTV service gets NFL Network, that equals 28 Million subscribers.    In total NFL Network has 41 million subscribers.

Or . . . you can kickoff at 9 am MST, 8 am PST on New Years Day.

Always a great ratings event when your bowl game kicks off when 80% of the nation is still in bed or hungover . . . or going up against the Tournament of Roses parade.

Cotton Bowl = major bowl, played on New Years Day, with a ton of history and two top teams.

Texas Bowl = new bowl, for teams that shouldn't be bowling, with no history, and a team from a weak conference (Rutgers) and one of the weakest teams ina  decent conference (that would be K-Lite)

Pretending that you'd rather play in the Texas Bowl on a network that no one even gets, especially in Manhattan is just plain funny.

Your game is on a network that roughly 14% of the country gets....and of those, just a small fraction will be interested enough to watch the game....on a Thursday night.

and comparing that to the number of people who will watch a New Years Day game on a major network? That's just funny.

Yeah . . . a bowl game that Fox will send their G team too, Pat Summerall, who will stammer and stutter over everything and forget the team  names, the players name over and over again, causing any casual fan to quickly turn away to the either the Rose Bowl parade or flip back to the Outback Bowl which demographically blows the Cotton Bowl out of the water.  Then think about the fact that the game kicks off at 9 am MST, and 8 am PST on New Years Day.

Then you've got the Gator and Capital One Bowl that kick off at Noon CST . . . yep, good luck in that mix corn.

If NU could pick up a HS QB like Freeman - and hang on to the savior they had - they would't have to go the juco route for two QB's in a row.  "Restore the Order," hah.  Could it be that Lincoln is an armpit of a town?  Or, that Callahan has the personality of a tamale.

Only 14% of the country can watch your game....far less than that will want to.

Whiny prima donnas that want to start immediately don't fit in well here at NU. That's especially true when you have the Conference Player of the Year playing the position. If you want to start as a freshman, you have to go to a really crappy team, that has virtually no talent at the position. Which is how Freeman ended up with you shmucks.

Callahan completed one of the most thorough overhauls of a college football program in history, and finished it in time to punk you back to the cellar of the Big 12, which is why you're in the Texas Bowl. Have you ever stopped to consider how dangerous NU will be as we start getting upperclassmen who were actually recruited to play in this system onto the field?

This year was a good one, winning the Big 12 North..next year is our breakthrough year, where we compete for a National Championship. In the meantime, you guys can aspire to someday be in the Alamo Bowl. So long as the order is restored, that's the best you can hope for.

Bookmarked. Sam Keller will be a step back from Zac Taylor and you know it. Purify is good and NU's defense is coming around...but NU and National Championship for 2007 will be quickly extinguished after you guys get your slapped around by USC then lose to Missouri...again.

Bookmark it...it saves my doing so.

Taylor is a great guy...tough, gritty, pretty good arm, smart. Keller is a stud QB though. He's a prototypical NFL QB, and Gil Brandt listed him at the beginning of the year as one of his top 5 NFL prospects at QB. He has a cannon arm, can make all the throws, and has faced top level competition like LSU and USC and played well.

As much as I like Taylor, Keller gives us a far better chance to win against top competition.

The O-Line will be better, all of the RBs/WRs will be back, and the defense is being upgraded as we speak...it's going to be a return to glory for Nebraska next year, and a tough year for you guys in the cellar of the Big 12.

Sam Keller

Position: QB Number: 02
School: Nebraska Height: 6'4
Status: Senior Weight: 230

He is a player at the quarterback position who shows the talent to play at the highest level of pro ball
He has good size for the position, who stands strong in the pocket, and seems to possess the leadership qualities needed from behind center
He has a live arm with good zip and velocity to his passes, who shows good placement and touch on his passes, which aid his receivers in gaining more yards after catch (YAC), since they don't have to break stride and can make plays on the move
He is also willing to stand tall in the pocket and take oncoming defenders hits to complete passes down field, and that type of toughness many times goes unnoticed to many scouts and persons viewing players
Though he has an unorthodox push of the ball in his throwing motion that makes me somewhat leery of his delivery time of the ball, and giving defenders opportunities to time and jump his passes
However, I will need more game evaluation on this player since I have had limited time watching his game, and would like to provide a more detailed analysis of his game

Taylor, however, is not in the same league as Keller in the eyes of NFL scouts. At 6’4” 230 lbs, Keller has a prototypical NFL quarterback frame. He has also shown a live arm and plays the game with an infectious enthusiasm and toughness. Prior to his transfer ESPN.com ranked him as the 12th-best quarterback to be eligible for the 2007 NFL Draft. Keller was also named to several preseason first-team All-Pac-10 lists, was regarded by Lindy's as having the strongest arm in the Pac-10 Conference and was rated as the 10th-best NFL talent in the conference by that same publication. Street & Smith’s also regarded Keller as the Pac-10's best passing quarterback. Currently, NFL Draft Scout has Keller listed as the sixth best quarterback who will be eligible for the 2008 draft, without having ever taken a snap at Nebraska.

According to Brand, the Saturday after ASU's final fall scrimmage, one day after Keller was named the team's No. 1 QB, Koetter was informed of something that would force him to instead go with Carpenter.

"I cannot tell you where it's from, and I cannot tell you what it is," Brand said. "We will never, ever tell that because it's private information regarding Sam, and we would never, ever say anything to put him in a bad light because he's a minor."

Again . . . how many times has a first year QB who just sat out a year, won a National Title.

I think if I were a Cornhole State fan (and thank the lord I am not) I would shoot for just winning the conference again first before I started talking National Title.

But this is typical talk of bandwagon fans, and the Cornhole State has thousands of them.

It's a pretty unique situation, with a top pro prospect, proven as an amazing talent is forced to transfer and sit out a year. So now we have an incredibly skilled and proven QB that the pros are already eyeing, with a year to learn the offense and run the scout team. Reports from practices have him looking better against the first team defense than Taylor does. Taylor you might recall was the Conference Player of the Year.

Keller is going to be an amazing QB for us, and make the offense even more dangerous.
