Let's have one of those GPC threads where we lie about expensive brands of scotch that we don't really drink.

I liked the recent thread about beer and 50% of them selected Tallgrass wheat, which really sucks, but they chose it because it was made in Manhattan.

Another non-food topic: Any of you guys ever have a beard for a few months and then shave it off?  Every time I look in the mirror now, my face looks funny.  Also, the rules of this thread would seem to allow you to post your thoughts on beards generally -- they are very popular with the hipsters where I live.

I can't really grow a beard, but I do grow enough facial hair I have to shave every few days...so basically the only bonus of not shaving is not having to shave.   :frown:

I had a beard for about a month my wife said I looked homeless because I had more white hairs than brown.  When it finally was filled in and she thought it looked good it was too itchy so I shaved it off.

i never really fully get what i'd call a beard but i often keep a couple of days of growth on my face by just using a trimmer to shave w/. &@#%ing hate razors & shaving cream but actually busted them out for the first time in a year or so last week. thought i was gonna have to give a presentation in front of important people. turns out i didn't have to. all that for nothing.

Hey, any of you guys play the lottery?  I won 25 smackers once on a scratch-off.

Two Cents x 1250 = cha-ching in my pocket!

I also subscribe to the big one, so I get entered automatically every drawing.  Pretty sure I'll win a few million one of these days.

Rick Darias what kind of shoes are you looking for?  dress shoes, running shoes, work shoes?  I like Nike, saucony, and Asic running shoes, Dress shoes I have to try on and just buy what ever fits, I can't wear slip on type shoes my feet are too skinny,  :frown: so mys be lace up shoes.  Flip Flops are always good for going to the pool or water park unless you have gross toes  :yuck:.  Anyway I go cheap on flip flops, but running shoes and work shoes and even dress shoes I would pay extra for good support and cushion.  Hope this helps in your shoe endevours.

If you wear dark trousers you won't even have to worry about it.

A better question is what excuse do you use when people do notice said leakage?

wow. that site is crazy. my shoe "tounges" always start to migrate to the outside of my foot/leg after a week or two of wearing. i'm wondering if it has to do with the way i lace them (crisscross lacing). i wonder what "corrugates shoe" means? does anyone know what i'm talking about/have this problem also? could it be unrelated to lacing and have to do with the way the top of my foot is shaped?

My bad.

You know what wasn't 'awful' even though I thought it was going to be awful?  Transformers.

Maybe I filtered out all non-Megan Fox scenes in my head, but it wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be.

No, you can't smoke the patches.  But they do have these new nicotine sticks where you light the end and then smoke it to get your fix.

Rounded toe is better than square toe, according to GQ.  Personally, I always have to have a pair of cap toe shoes in my rotation.  (You need a rotation because your dress shoes will last longer if you don't wear them 2 days in a row).  Obviously, you need a leather sole if you want to be taken seriously, or a sole that looks like leather from the side.  You don't need to spend more than $200 (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GrcmliAEnis/Sj_dlMDJg6I/AAAAAAAAANg/Yekr60yTMZQ/s1600-h/GQ+-+July+2009.jpg), to get good shoes, and you can find very good ones for $70 at discount places.

anybody ever broken any bones?
I've broken my r hand, fractured left wrist, and fractured my elbow.

also purplebybirth I remember seeing a picture of you when you broke your arm in middle school? I think, you should def. post that, its probably the most disgustingly awesome thing I have ever seen.

Broke both of my wrists simultaneously when I was in 4th grade. Someone yelled to me when I was riding my bike, turned my head to look, and apparently turned my bike right into the curb, launching me over the handlebars. I crossed my arms in front of my face to protect it, and the impact broke both of my wrists. Then had to ride home about 2 blocks with my hands draped over the handlebars. My mom didn't believe me when I said I thought they were broken, and gave me a Tylenol and a glass of water (which I couldn't hold). She took me to the doctor the next day when I couldn't put on my socks. Sucked.

Broke my ankle in 03, fell down the stairs and landed on it funny. I remember watching 35-7 with my ankle on a bag of ice to get the swelling down so I could get a cast put on it. Had to get up at like 5:30 every morning so my mom could drive me to school before she had to leave for work for like a month. Keep in mind it was winter, and the school didn't open the doors til like 7:00-7:30.

Another non-food topic: Any of you guys ever have a beard for a few months and then shave it off?  Every time I look in the mirror now, my face looks funny.  Also, the rules of this thread would seem to allow you to post your thoughts on beards generally -- they are very popular with the hipsters where I live.

I have to shave everyday for work, but probably couldn't grow a good one anyway.

I had a beard for about a month my wife said I looked homeless because I had more white hairs than brown.  When it finally was filled in and she thought it looked good it was too itchy so I shaved it off.

Yeah, it takes 2 weeks at least to fill in and look at all decent.  I never had a big problem with itchiness.

I'd also like some reccomends for good leather dress shoes.

TIA, brosepheses.

HTH, brah!

good stuff.  links to said $70 shoes?  TIA

I go to a discount place called Century 21, but I know it's not national.  They have everything from Bostonian to Rockport to Cole Haan to Calvin Klein around that price, and Bruno Maglis for a bit more.  There's probably something like that up in Michigan.  Otherwise, Calvin Klein has a bunch of shoes for around $130 that look real nice, although they don't last that long in my experience.  One place I really avoid now is Aldo Shoes.  Awful quality.
