Canisius coach Tom Parrotta has a strong relationship with Art Alvarez of the Miami Tropics, Asprilla's AAU coach. Parrotta already has one of Alvarez's kids on campus in former South Florida point guard Gaby Belardo and is making a strong play for another in junior point guard Angel Rodriguez. Let's say Parrotta doesn't get Asprilla, the Tropics keep a steady stream of Division I talent - alumni include NBA guards O.J. Mayo and Jose Juan Barea - so there will be other talented players available for Canisius to recruit.

Quote from: Curtis Kelly (of all people)
“He’s a great guy and he was a great player for us, but sometimes guys can’t handle Frank,” Kelly told the newspaper. “Guys can’t handle the way he demands. He wants the best out of you, 100 percent every time. Even though you may not be able to give it to him every time he still wants you to try. Freddy failed at that,  unfortunately.”

Interesting . . .  :ck:

are we positive that this isn't a Colombia Canisius?  Like, a satellite campus or something?

source of mine said that Friday before T. Tech, Frank ran the crap out of the team, like timed runs you have to make or run again. I guess Freddy continued to miss the time and was the only one to miss as well (obviously an effort problem if Potuzak and JHR can make it but Freddy can't). The whole team had to run for Freddy every time he didn't make times and was very encouraging of Asprilla. Finally Freddy made the time and simply walked off the court. My source said the only thing mutual about him leaving was Frank kicking his ass off the team and holding the door open for him as he left. Good riddance if this is true, I'd rather have JHR hustle up and down the court like a wounded calf than somebody who won't give the appropriate effort.

Finally Freddy will get to play at a school that is representative of his talents as a division I basketball player. :emawkid:
