It seems everyone is weighing in on the Cats: http://www.kansascity.com/2011/01/13/2582582/kansas-state-is-peering-into-the.html

This will be well liked around here:

I can't remember did we even try to get a elite level pg in the 2010 recruiting class? Obviously if we did we missed big time but I can't even remember us trying.

Offers for guards according to rivals (not necessarily accurate): Trevor Releford, Rickey Scott, Rico Richardson.

Who? Who? Who?

Releford's little brother, good player for Alabama.

Scott started for Arkansas before getting hurt.

Richardson (formerly from Highland Park, Topeka) seemingly disappeared, not playing college basketball that I can find.

So, a crappy kid from Manhattan's backyard? In other words, Quentin Buchanan?

That's really not fair, a much different player.  Probably more like 95 or Omari than Q.

And to be fair to Q, he was probably pretty close to Nino coming out of HS.  Really.

He probably would've been a 3 star in today's recruiting, but was Kansas HS POY. FWIW.

Hmm, I guess time has discolored my memory of those dark days. Maybe I should have gone with Travis Reynolds instead of Q?

Its east to make fun of, but Asbury's recruiting of Buchanan, Reynolds, (and Dies/Rhodes) wasn't terrible.  All were pretty good Kansas players.

Buchanan's problem was that he was a lot like Sutton, without the elite athleticism.  He was a great KS HS player b/c he could score in the paint, but it didn't translate to major college basketball.  Probably a better comparison to what he was would be Ojeleye.  Not enough skills to be a perimeter player, and not enough size to play inside.

Reynolds developed into a pretty decent inside guy; averaged 10 and 7 his last season and a half before his fallout with Wooly.

Also, what kind of crazy foreshadowing was the Travis Reynolds thing.

I'm trying to figure out how we don't get to the midway point with 5 losses @A&M @Mizzou and @Kansas.  4-4 is a best case scenario and could possibly lead to a first-round bye, but the fans will have jumped off the bandwagon unless we beat Kansas.
