Our bowling alley is better than KU's

In my day, it wasn't very fancy....very utlitarian....cafeteria, snack counter to buy sodas, had the bowling alley, and the bookstore.  That was about it.    There was a weird restaurant thingy on the first floor, but no one I knew ever went there...seemed to be mostly international kids in there.

The Kansas Union at KU was much better during the same period of time.

To hear of the strides that our Union has made....well, I just couldn't be more proud.  A Panda Express?  BOOM.  I would have eaten there every other day if we would have had that when I was in school.   I struggle with simultaneously being happy for the kids today, and being super jealous.  go cats.

You know what areas of the Union I hate?

1.  That area near the bowling alley just behind the pool tables that has that golf simulator that may or may not still be there.  
2.  The area on the east end of the bottom floor that has a stretch of about 15 payphone booths but no payphones.

Those areas give me the creeps.

Last time I walked through there they had a Chick-fil-a, Taco Bell, Panda, Sandwich Place, Burger/Sandwich place, and a place to get Pizza.  Also there is a Mexican food place in the basement that is like a knock-off Chipotle.

Played a lot of pool and drank a lot of cheap beer in there from 98' to 2001.  Really cheap pool and beer.  Good times.   And once Subway reinvented themselves...forget about it.

Christ, they had nothing like this when Limestone and I were crusing those halls.  We would routinely get biscuits and gravy in the mornings, which was very good....but after that it was crap.
