the save money reason is pretty much bullshit now.  used to be true but now not so much.  don't listen to the bullshit nerds son go cats.
You can save lots of money if you are building a high end PC but not so much building an entry level rig.

that's what i was trying to say w/ my graph.  a few years back things changed when hardware caught up with the applications running on it.  only a small number of users actually require the horsepower that a high end pc delivers.  95% of the population can get by just fine with a cheap dell.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Thanks all.  I am now better-informed and slightly less self-confident.

The Phenom II's are pretty good. Not sure how future proof they are in terms of socket. Mobo looks standard. What video card? That's the real kicker. Also, SSD :crossfingers:???

Not as big of a money saver as it used to be, but still plenty cheaper to build your own, more customizable, etc. Also depends on if you want it completely legal or not.

Don't listen to stupid brainwashed Apple minions. Go cats.

You can actually build your own PC and then install OSX on it.  A guy I know did that.

I'm kind of leaning towards him telling me how to essentially build a PC but turn it into a Mac.  :ck:

Their hardware is the best part of their machines, imo.

Agreed, but you can save decent money by doing it yourself.

I highly recommend this processor-

http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/28/researchers-create-ultra-fast-1-000-core-processor-intel-also/

Microsoft is already working on an OS that will eat up at least 20 percent of that speed just for shits and giggles.

Are you one of those people that try to kill "system idle process" in task manager because it's taking 97% of your cpu resources?
