Agreed. Neuheisel would be an interesting hire if things continue to go poorly at UCLA.

no, hes terrible.  he was terrible at colorado, he was terrible in washington, and hes been terrible at ucla.  his teams have never gotten better under his coaching.  never.  each of the above programs was in a worse place or at best the exact same place as when he took over.

He's not terrible. He went 66-30 at Colorado and Washington and he finished in the AP top 10 three times in a span of six years at both schools. He's had a miserable go at UCLA, I'll give you that. But not too many coaches will succeed when forced to play musical quarterbacks three straight years.

He'd be a compelling hire.

I'm not sure how well he'd get along with shirt tucks, and I'm not convinced he'd win a lot of games.

We can find a less dented can of green beans on the shelf between now and then.

I wish we bought the dented can that locks kids in closets and puts up 50pts a game.

Don't know if our fan base could handle his type of success.

After a few successful seasons in the Legends and Leaders, Coach Kill will be ready to come home to Kansas.

We have two options.  One, we get some dude out there looking to rebuild his name as stated.

Two, we go after some sexy coordinator looking to take a jump in a BCS conference.

I think it's likely, if Currie is still here at that time, that we'll see something like this.

Since Currie is new here, do you think we can start a "Hire BV" campaign?  Maybe we should save the cash and go all out on that?

I think option 1 is the best of the two. Once the sexy coordinator reaches a certain level of success, he'll be off to a better gig in another conference. Up-and-coming coaches are more likely to be Urban Meyer and Brian Kelly than Chris Petersen or Gary Patterson.

The Huggins model, if you can call it that, is probably best for K-State. Hire a guy who has been there, done that, and is interested in making one final run. Coaches I would put in this category include: Phil Fulmer (age 60), Dennis Erickson (age 63), Larry Coker (age 62), Dennis Franchione (age 59), Mike Riley (age 57), etc. I'm not suggesting that any or all of these coaches would be a good fit for K-State, but these are the types of coaches I think K-State should look at.

Expectations need to be reeled in considerably. The days of K-State being a 10- or 11-win program are over. The guys mentioned above would all be capable of getting them to 8-4 or 7-5 with the occasional 9- or 10-win season mixed in.

Last thing: If Pat Hill (age 57) gets let go at Fresno in the next few years, I think he'd be interesting.

Good one, but that's about where I'd draw the line. He turns 65 in May.

Would be pretty awesome to see him stick it to LHC Bill Snyder one final time (and this time it wouldn't be bad for my KSUQHATZ)

Pat Hill is far to ugly to be coach here. Probably smells bad too.

sounds like you are making this more of a coaching retirement home than a place for damaged goods.  I don't think you quite grasp what the huggins model is based on who you listed.   this all reads like an argument for snyder than anything else.

I don't want anybody older than 60. I want somebody who will come in for 3 or 4 years, build up the program, and then leave for greener pastures. Our options would be much better at that point than they are now.

GPC says he will not be at the bowl.

Isn't the QB coach at Vandy a worse job?

Seems like a QB coach is a higher position than TE coach.  Also, hasn't Rahne coached like every offensive position now?  Curious who else Franklin brings to Vandy with him.

Yeah, you would think that Vandy would be a stepdown.  Little step anyway.  But maybe the promotion and raise is worth it?

LACIQ from me...was rahne on staff with RP?  If not is he now officially a member of the ron prince coaching tree folder now that he works for Franklin?
