From someone who knows a little bit about KU athletics:
"You have someone that helped put together marketing plans at Notre Dame. He helped negotiate shoe deals there. He helped negotiate the NBC deal and the radio deal with Westwood One. You have somone that worked very close with people in the Big East and Big 10 conference.
He was in charge of dealing with some of the most influential money people at Notre Dame in terms of boosters.
Then he leaves and goes to Ball State. He secures the largest donation in school history to help renovate their football facility. He hires Brady Hoke who wins a MAC title. He helped secure a Nike contract at Ball State
Then he goes to Tulsa and raises a lot of money there. He hires another successful football coach in Todd Graham who has won 25 games in three years.
He's worked in fund-raising, the numbers side of things, the ticket side of things. He has connections to people in the Big 10 and Big East. He is very well respected and has some pretty big names that back his abilities.
I've heard about a lot of candidates through this process and made a lot of calls on some of them. If they officially announce Bubba Cunningham as they guy I can tell you it is a hell of a hire.
The only drawback I can think of would be, is a couple sources have told me if Notre Dame needed and AD in the near future they would come looking at him."
