Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

I'm of the opinion that anyone who thinks we are better off with Nino's 34 total minutes in 10 games is out of their rough ridin' mind.  Of course we miss him.

Dominique was, always, dominant.

i'd like to see what empty scholarship could have done with those 34 minutes.

I miss him, despite the fact that he was maybe one of the most frustrating athletes to watch that ever played for K-State . . . but he brought a level of toughness that we just don't have, plus he may have been one of the most (unfairly imo) targeted players in Big 12 B-Ball history.   Some of the fouls he got called for were just, well, absurd.

A lot more than I suspected.  Sure, he had some really bad lapses, but when he was in JYC mode (about half the time) he was a huge asset.  Dom was a lot like Wally, but he actually showed his good side from time to time.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Maybe.  But I think McGruds/OJ brings just as much as Sutton/McGrudes did last year.  His experienceJYC-ness would be nice, but he's not the difference between being good and great.

If you think Jake has a hard time getting shots without Denis, could you imagine if the defenses also had Dom to sag off of too?

agree.  mcgruder has been fantastic, and it'd be very hard to play pullen, mcgruder & sutton at the same time.

mostly missing his adorableness.

Well, maybe not quite yet.

Last year in 59.2 %Min, Sutton's main strengths were 11.4 ORB% and 2.9 STL%.  ORt of 104.6.
This year in 72.8 %Min, McGruds is bringing 17.6 DRB% (8.4 ORB%) and 2.1 STL%. ORt of 117.2.

Last year in 27.5 %Min, McGruds main strengths were 15.8 DRB% (9.8 ORB%).  ORt of 125.0.
This year in 20.9 %Min, OJ is bringing 11.9 DRB% (9.7 ORB%) and 3.3 STL%.  ORt of 98.7.

And IMO it will only get better.

Is it better to have Dominique Sutton at the end of your bench or Nino Williams? I'd take Sutton.

at the 3, mcgruder 25 minutes, sutton 15 is obviously better than anything else.

Just going to toss this out:

This would have been the year it clicked for Dom.

You know it's true.

Yes.  Hard to let Dom and Wally go.

quite simply. no.

he should have been so much more. than he was.

his liabilities (and they were great) would have been more detrimental than his positives beneficial.

Rod is our leading 3 pt. shooter as far as made baskets go. At this point Dom would maybe have 1 (we have yet to play nubb).

I want Denis back. That's all.

Yeah, honestly I think Dom would have been worse on O this year than last.  Last year, he thrived in transition.   We don't play the same game.  Dom may have had a lot more trouble without as much up and down.

We miss him, but it will pay off in the end because McGruder will hit his full stride sooner.

Exactly.  Ludicrous to insinuate anything else.

The only thing that could possibly be better would be Rod 20, dom 15 and merriwether 5, that way we could get 5 less minutes of shooting.

Was Dom going to be content coming off the bench after having been a multi-year starter, that was my concern.
