Quote from:  Chris Merriewether's very CONNECTED fiance Stacie Owens
To Grant Guggisberg, Wichita Joe, and anyone else who has the displeasure of reading this article- It IS a big deal with there is ANY kind of contact made between a player and a coach, regardless of magnitude of the "hit". Such contact should NEVER, I repeat, NEVER occur. The loss of the game had NOTHING to do with the turnover that Merriewether made, which Frank Martin apparantly warranted as "severe" enough to "hit" him for it. In fact, had ALL of the team been doing their job throughout the duration of the game, we would have easily beat Missouri. Every loss OR win is a team effort- the blame or glory is NEVER attributed to ONE player. Grant- you clearly did NOT watch the game in it's entirety. Merriewether played his BEST offensive game, hands down. He was successful with shots that his teammates were NOT. Additionally, to say that Merriewether deserved to be "hit" by Frank because he did not maintain eye contact is the furthest possible thing from the truth. If you were a regular viewer of the basketball games, and if you knew ANYTHING about Chris Merriewether and his character whatsoever, you would know that his is one of the FEW that actually do, without fail and on EVERY occassion, maintain FULL eye contact with Frank, even when Frank is screaming obscenities and verbally tearing him down. This article is nothing short of appalling and had no business being printed. I suggest, as a sports reporter, that you, Grant, get your "stats" STRAIGHT before you make a complete fool of yourself and publish such nonsense and untruth. And, for the record, if anyone wants to know how I know the TRUTH of it all, it's because I am Chris Merriewether's very disgusted, very disturbed, very irrate, and very CONNECTED fiance.

Jesus, reality is going to hit her like a truck.  It's one of those deals where you completely see it coming, but you can't do anything about it.

CMerr is the one that's going to get hit like a truck with reality.  After the pathetic tear-filled love-fest apology in the locker room after Xavier where he single handedly instilled the fear of failure in our entire team, this doesn't surprise me one bit.

LMAO at him being "mature."  He has a lot to learn about being a man and step one is admitting to himself that he is making a huge mistake by marrying this chick before it brings him years of brow-beating, anguish, and self-doubt.

Best of luck, Chris.

Why does she use quotes everytime she says "hit"?

Wonder why she didn't go with her patented ALL CAPS technique on those words.   :surprised:

To be fair, I think she was mocking the style of the guy who posted before her (Wichita Joe) with the caps.

And Chris/future wife/family/friends should have been livid after that game, but not because of the contact with Frank.  That comment that Frank made to the effect that: "If Chris Merriewether is the best offensive player on your team then you've got big problems" was brutal.  It's true, but it really shouldn't have been said.

After graduating from K-State with a degree in finance, Merriewether worked at Conoco Phillips (2010-12) and Phillips 66 (2012-16).

Like his time at K-State, he said "great people" defined his time working for these companies. As Merriewether realized what he "truly wanted to do" for a career, he thought harder about returning to school to get an MBA.

Kafayat Merriewether, his girlfriend at the time and current wife, graduated from Wharton and helped open his eyes to the possibility of pursuing his MBA there. Before he knew it, he was working with MLT — Management Leadership for Tomorrow, an organization for top performing minority students — to prepare for the rigorous application process.

Merriewether went to school at Kansas State (2006-08) and K-State (2008-10).
