awesome news and awesome chance to spread the story of what being a kansan is all about to the entire bball hoops world, grats beems and have fun in maui/new york if you can be sure to go.

OT about being a kansas though, how many times do you get asked about dorothy and stuff when you're in new york or cali or somewhere? too many really. i'm always like "oh wow. that's a pretty good one. first time i've ever heard it. good job."
I usually tell them that Dorthy is dead.  Usually they are all  :horrorsurprise:

i usually lie and say i'm from wherever i'm visiting.  it's embarassing to live in this hayseed place.

lol. no it's not. it's more fun to laugh at the people who think they are laughing at you. was once in vegas at some kind of food court and someone was getting chinese food. some older ladies were in front of us and were rolling that we were from kansas. one was "i bet you don't have places like this there do you?" and i was all "what? mall foodcourt chinese restaurants? nope. sure don't. this is really something."

I usually go straight for being a complete dick and ask them about the worst stereotype thing about their state.

Approaching it like this was a lot of fun in Auburn.

you're a rough ridin' idiot who would benefit from being from kansas and travel to locations such as tulsa and oklahoma city.  not everyone chews cud and goes fishing with a stick and a string/hook and worm, no bobber or waders, sinkers, etc.  LMAO

Best state by far to do this in is New Jersey.  So enjoyable.

What if you're from hayseed territory, but you move out to somewhere, like, say... Portland, Oregon?  Do you just tell the truth then?

I told a waitress in Baltimore I was from Kansas and she asked me if I drove a tractor.  I said, sure do, it's parked at the airport in Kansas right now.  I'll drive it home tonight.  She said, "cool!!!".

I once had a group of folks in Florida convinced that Kansas was secretly nuked and the government was covering it up.

Was with a group of friends visiting University of Denver to see other friends.  We went to a couple house parties, and when they asked where we were from we responded Kansas. Got some weird looks, so we responded "We're the baseball team, our coach wanted us to train in high altitude." They were all like 'Oh really! that's awesome'. Worked like a f*cking charm.
