Anyone know if there's anything to Wally's absence (minutes)?

I think its possible he really might be sick, or missed enough practice b/c of being sick that Frank didn't want to play him.  Frank was asked about him last week and he was very complimentary and said he wasn't starting b/c he was being just being nice to him.

wally judge is like the black john rettiger but maybe worse.  maybe george hill would be a better comparo.

either way, all i know is that he won't be all big 12 this season.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

That's a low blow.  Wally has been unspectacular; but to compare to George... wow.

i'm just really hurt by wally.  actually, i'm not.  he's never been a back to the basket guy.  more disappointed in frank not finding a place for wally in his offense and just continuing to try and put a square peg in a round hole.

I see that.  I thought he showed some glimpses of what he can potentially do during the Gonzaga game.

i just think he needs to catch the ball facing the basket and make his moves from 10-12 feet out.  similar to amare stoudemire's style of game.  frank seems to think he can teach him to bang like jamar, who by the way, is the strongest player on the blocks in america.

Excellent point - hadn't looked at it that way - always assumed it was purely a lack of confidence that kept Wally from breaking out.

Frank wants Freddy at the top of the post for his mythological passing/offensive ability.  Bumped Wally back down to low post/bench.

Freddy is an excellent passer and has nice footwork. That's more than you can say for Wally Judge.

His feet look amazing when he does his spin moves/pump fakes right up until the whistle blows for traveling.

I do like his passing.

I said in chat the other night and will say it again here . . . you should all join me in hoping that Freddy won't have to suffer through another Kansas winter next year as he works the skimmer in Art's pool and goes and picks up Art's dry cleaning.

Ah, but one of these days, that whistle won't be blown, and it will be glorious.

If Wally can't beat Freddy out for that spot, it's Wally's fault (and maybe Frank's if he's doing it because Freddy is latino).

I personally like Wally, and think once he gets back into the flow will be a solid contributor (not all-conf).  I really think confidence is his biggest problem (other than a broken neck and the flu).

Wally and Freddie usually start/play together.

The minutes breakdown for the posts has been about what I thought.  More minutes for Samuels (21.4 MPG) and Kelly (20.4), then Freddie (19) and Judge (15.8).  Then JHR (12.4).  I suppose Judge could've played a bit more, but none of those guys are going to play a bunch more than 20 MPG game.

At first I lolled, but then I realized if he is going to be out there 15+ minutes a night and suck at those things I want him to make more bucketz.

Here are the old ESPN evals on Wally.

December 2008, Wally is one of the top talents in the 2009 class. He is a skilled post player with good hands, touch and athletic ability. He is solid in the low post but scores mostly facing the basket. He is a decent shooter with range to 17 feet. He can also put the ball on the floor and slash to the basket. He is most dangerous catching the ball within 12 feet of the basket. Judge is a solid rebounder who can rebound outside of his area when motivated. He is an ok defender but sometimes struggles to sustain his effort and concentration. He is a pretty good shotblocker and runs the court well. Wally is an effective passer in the half court set. He has solid vision and creativeness. He has signed with Kansas State where he should be an impact player immediately.

June 2008, Judge is a skilled combo forward  :horrorsurprise: who can be productive both inside and out. His biggest problem right now is his inconsistency, as he can be dominating a game at one minute and then virtually disappear the next. But he has all the tools to be a big time player: size, strength, athleticism, and basketball skills. He has done a nice job of filling out his physique as he has transformed himself from a wiry athlete into a powerful athlete with a strong frame. He is also a major mismatch problem as he can take smaller defenders to the block (although he would do well to improve his footwork) or knock down the open three-pointer when his feet are set. He likes to face up and attack from both the mid and high post, and does a nice job of attacking the rim aggressively and consequently getting himself to the free-throw line.

there was a guy on kstatefans that posted something like "don't expect to see wally for a few games, he has some personal issues he's sorting out".  it was in response to a dude saying he thought judge was being kept out for practicing poorly, so he also said that judge is a beast in practice.

they guy didn't respond to any of the posts requesting clarification.
