shoot the open or semi-guarded 3

no more ball faking taking 1 or 2 dribbles and shooting the open or semi-guarded 15 to 17 footer.  you are better than this

Making some mid range j's can eventually help draw the help D off the bigs, helping to free up looks down low.

I have no prob with this.

Did everyone else get all EMAWy when he did the little Denis'esque runner in the lane?  I mean, it wasn't as good as Denis but I still got pretty emotional.

omg, me too.  Spradler did this the other night against texas so.  He either drove or it was in transition, there were two jyc’s basically standing on the blocks with two defenders, doc hesitates like he might stop and the ghost of denis slapped him on the back of the head doc realized “just get it to the rim” and he floated one up – bricked it – and jamar or someone put it back.  I wept.

hitting 3s does this.  getting caught in the midrange area makes it harder to feed the bigs.

you could argue that hitting the midrange after going past a flying defender might open you up for better looks from 3 :dunno: => defense might be hesitant to come flying at you

If Jake is hitting from the top of the arc, this will not effect who is guarding Curt or Freddy on the block.  However, drive to the FT line and pull up, and they may slide up to pick jake up, freeing up the big on the block.

+1

Defensive schemes against us are going to keep calling for doubling down on our bigs. KU did it so well last year and that blueprint hasn't gone anywhere, in other words we've shown little offensive capacity to do well against it. We've got to hit jumpers, 3s or 2s, then teams may move away from this scheme.

In the end, our offense is mostly created by what we do on defense, so IMO Frank should just keeping coaching them up on D, extra JYD, and we'll get more transition O. We're just not a half court, walk it up team and never will be so long as Frank is around. So don't expect efficient motion offense or even high half court BBIQ all the time. Defend like mad + crash the glass = everything else will be fine.
