Gruds is constantly letting his man open on the 3, he tries to do help defense in the paint and drifts from his guy. Happened at least 3 times tonight. Surprised Frank doesn't bench him as much as Russell

He's supposed to help when someone gets beat.

frank's rotations are causing this.  overall, we're making a lot of the same mistakes, we're just making less of them.  new players learning frank's system.

Our 7th game last year was FHSU.  They scored over a point/possession, and led to "Buy in or quit". This year, ESU scored .78 points/possession, even with Myles playing big minutes.

Yeah, don't get being upset about this. A 3 pointer is a much lower % shot then letting someone get a layup...

why? we're 6-1 with two wins of quality opponents and our only loss to the defending national champs #1 team in the country.  Why be worried about what the other top 10 teams are doing? We have a few more "resume builder" games left in non-con and a decent con. sched.

I don't get the being uspet/worried right now. If we get embarrassed by one of those resume builders, then there might be reason to be worried. Basketball isn't like football though, we just need to get a 1-4 seed and go into the tourney with some momentum.

Our defensive efficiency is #20 in the country.  The only real negative right now is 3PT% against us, but overall our defense has been solid.

Actually, Frank made it clear after the Duke game that if he had an extra day to practice he probably would've defended them differently.  He said the staff talked about putting in some different things for our perimeter defense b/c of their quickness.  But b/c they played back to back nights he didn't feel comfortable putting it in b/c he didn't feel comfortable doing so without having worked it in practice.  He also said he didn't put his guards in very good position to be successful b/c of that.  I think if we played Duke again we'd still see plenty of pressure, but some different rotations and help assignments and overall a much different defensive gameplan.

I think he does.  Perimeter pressure can be done more than one way, ie. you can funnel the ball to different spots, rotate your help differently, etc.  

Now, as clams said, none of this means we are going to beat Duke when/if we meet again b/c they are really, really good, but I do think we can still use Frank's pressure and defend them more soundly.

I think (hope) most of use realize that Duke is an extreme example because they have the best backcourt in the country, but it would be great going forward knowing it's at least an option to switch up defensive looks the next time we face elite guards like that.
