Macbook trackpad problem
« on: November 28, 2010, 10:34:16 PM »
The track pad on my macbook isn't working very well. I'm unable to scroll on 8/9ths of it (only the very top right part of the track pad works).

Any idea how I can get the rest of it to work without using screwdrivers, installing software, etc.?

(I already tried punching it, and that didn't work.)

I prefer my lap top to be on my lap, and my knee cap sucks as a mouse pad.

I'd really like to use the track pad if possible.

After spending considerable time researching this issue, I have determined that my track pad has "dead spots." Hopefully this information will be the "break in the case" needed to get to the bottom of this.

OK, now the entire track pad is not functioning properly.

I'm thinking maybe it had a stroke?  :dunno:

It's broken.  Do you have an AppleCare plan?
Where did you get that overnight bag?

No AppleCare plan, at least I don't think. Probably threw away the receipt and the box.

Bought it at Best Buy in February, though. Should be under some sort of warranty?

go buy applecare.  you have up to one year after purchase to get it, although the machine itself is warrantied for 1 year so you probably won't need it for  this issue.

I don't get it. Is Hemmy some sort of a trackpad expert?

Parts of my track pad (one word or two?) are starting to come back to life, but it goes in and out. Still far from fully functioning, and it may never work the same again. But I'm holding out hope that I won't have to send it away to Mac Headquarters for a 2 1/2 week vacation.

EDIT: OK, this is weird. Now it's back to fully functioning. Did Hemmy send some sort of signal to my Mac through the interwebs?  :surprised:

EDIT pt. 2: NOT fully functioning. But working better.

Is it possible that you are having a stroke?  May want to get that checked out.
