i still wouldn't have sent him out though. i bet if you look at his era after starts where he through over 100 pitches vs his era after starts where he threw under 100, there is a marked difference. up four with tomorrow off and over 100 pitches. sit him down and throw out crow or something.

Shields has thrown 100+ pitches all but three times this season, and one of those was the shellacking he took on Friday vs. Detroit. I have no problem letting him go out there. Starters take a lot of pride throwing CGs. He deserved the opportunity today after cruising through innings 2-8.

Once they lose today, we are only 4.5 GB from them? We were just 4.5 GB from TB a few days ago. Every game helps no matter who it is above us.

It's pretty fortunate that is the team they need to rely on because they are really good. Royals might actually get this if they don't piss down their legs
