PIPE, the Royals haven't won nearly enough games yet to start calling this their best season in 20 years. They had a better record on 8/9/03, after all. If they keep winning games, they will have no problem whatsoever making the playoffs. There is still a lot of baseball to be played.

1994 we would've made the playoffs.

why does everybody say that? the royals were 3rd in their division, and 5th in the wild card standings. i mean i was 7 or whatever so i have no idea but, am i missing something?

I was a big royals fan the summer of 94, used to stay up late and watch ESPN hoping to see the score on the ticker at the bottom.

3rd in the WC standings bro, and only 4 out of 1st in their division. They had just had a 14 (FOURTEEN) game winning streak, had the best starter in the AL, best closer in the AL, and were rolling. If they didn't make it it would've been only by a game or 2. 13 over .500 and only Yankees, Indians, and Chi Sox had more wins at the time of the strike.

Agree with both the misremembering of the 1994 Royals playoff chances and also agree with the Expos being screwed.  That Montreal team was loaded.  They were on pace to win 105 games and did while sharing the division with Atlanta (you know, the team who won a division title every other year in the decade)

It would be so great buying 4 beers in the 7th thinking that they will last you through the fireworks as you plan to drown your sorrows and then the Royals score like 38 runs in the bottom of the 8th and you are out of beer but fist pumping your ass off because you just pounded four beers and saw an awesome comeback!
