Interesting how George and Dayton both said George's operational role would now expand and he'll be more involved in baseball ops. George also said his two months with the club were invaluable in prepping him for an expanded role.

Frankly, I think George's task was two-fold:  help the hitters and evaluate the club from the field, dugout and clubhouse levels, then report his observations to Moore and Glass.

he didn't want to do it to begin with. he felt like he had to. that's why everyone was shocked he agreed to it. they've offered him every job with the club multiple times.

Could very well be the case, and I suspect it is. I think he accomplished what he wanted to and stepped back out. Hosmer and Moose raved about him, as did Butler, and from everything I've read George was a positive clubhouse and dugout influence. The TV guys say he's going to throw BP and help the players before home games, but won't be suited up for those games or travel.

Tell him CF3 says he would be a cool manager. Ask him nicely. Also tell him thanks for 1985.

7 games (assuming we don't blow this) back with a series @ the ChiSox then 3 @ Twins then 3 @ Mets....Hopefully we win 6 or 7 of those 9 and go from there.

They're all under .500 (yeah, so are the Royals) but this road trip poses a good opportunity for KC to get back in it...or pretty close to back in it.

not to say brett is or isn't a good hitting coach, but butler, hosmer and moose aren't stupid enough to not rave about anything and everything they might be asked about royals legend, george brett.

Run Differential  before tonights results.  Next 12 games

KC   -14

Min  -45    3 home, 3 away    (Twins are 23-24 at home, 20-31 away)

Chi  -65    3 away  (Sox are 22-25 at home)

NYM -27   3 away  (Mets are 21-30 at home)

If the Royals are serious about anything they need to go 9-3 on this stretch.  That would get them to  3 games over .500 on Aug. 2nd.

Encouraging numbers. I'm also thinking this is a good time for Yost to ask LHOFHCBS to give his "one game at a time" speech to the Royals.  :)

Not surprising. The Os were terrible for quite a while but now they're good and are fun to watch. If I was an Orioles fan, I'd be going to every damn game possible this year.

Davis is definitely up to that task. No one better in the rotation to get that job done.
