These kids are winners. If you root for them that makes you a winner. If you root against them you are a loser and live in a garbage dump.

This is another tough borderline burn it down situation. Can we fire Ned Yost and pretty much keep most of the rest of the team without being 20 games under .500  (See Milwaukee Brew Crew circa Sept. 15th 2008)
Hire Brad Underwood Now!!!!!!

Word is the Red Sox are shopping Jackie Bradley Jr. for Relief Pitching help this season...Please GMDM...Be bold & call up Herrera so he can hopefully showcase a couple of good weeks then flip him + another piece (I'd go as high as Collins + Herrera) for this huge prospect that could fill the OF void left by Myers (w/o the power)

Lough is a way better hitter than 9th, but I really would like to see us keep him there. Get Gordon some RBIs.

ryan knows it's coming lol, must have said the same thing on break or something.

LOL, the super quick "No." from RL is classic.

Hudler is a complete moron, but all he was trying to say was, "Imagine how popular Salvy would be if he played in a big market,"...which is a very true point, he just made the point in the worst way possible.

Oh, and since we've digressed to posting 'optimal lineups' I'd go with

Gordon - L
Johnny G - R
Butler - R
Hosmer - L
Perez - R
Moose - L
Cain - R
Lough -L
Escobar - R

I personally don't put a lot of stock into the LRLRLR batting order, but I know Ned does, so I think this is a lineup that he could settle into eventually assuming Escobar stays <.250/.300
Johnny should not be 2...

Thoughts on Lough in the 2 hole? I think he should get a shot.
Not sure, he's pretty streaky and needs to get on base a little more, a shot maybe but not a permanent thing for sure.

1 game under   .500.     :horrorsurprise:

Getting Big Game James a W.     :D

Only two holes in the batting order instead of 5

Get me another .280 hitter at 2nd with some pop and we would be ready to cruise.   :driving:

Or move Gordon to 3rd and Play Cain, Lough and Dyson all the time.    :crossfingers:
If these weren't the Royals, it wouldn't be so impressive, but I'm happy.

Escobar (much like everyone else) would probably benefit from a bit of routine and staying in one role offensively.  And LRL is great in theory but it's a luxury few teams have.

LRLRLR is completely secondary in building a succesful lineup...Ned's problem is it seems to be his first priority.

And on good teams, everybody does have a single role offensively...get on base as often as possible, regardless of spot in the order. THAT needs to be KC's philosophy...players do not change their approach whether they are hitting in the 1 or 6 spot in the order, and to perpetuate that myth is asinine

Incorrect. You really think the stud power hitters in the game are more concerned with getting on base or driving in runs?  The batting order matters because certain people have skillsets that lend them to a spot in the order. I mean, I guess it's everybody's goal to simply hit the ball and get on base but this ain't little league so dudes do have different roles.

So, you think that if Jose Bautista is batting leadoff, he will change his approach? You think if Jarrod Dyson bats cleanup, he's going to start swinging for the fences? Cmon man. Players are slotted into lineups to suit their skillset, yes, but the approach of a player is dictated by his skillset, not his place in the lineup

I feel like you didn't read my post.

What do you mean by staying in one role offensively if you weren't saying that players in different spots in the order assume different roles?

Why is Davis still in the game? Behind 4-0, bases loaded, no outs.

I don't mind letting Davis get shelled.  Saves the bullpen from wasting their time in a dumped game and for the time being, we don't have anyone to replace him in AAA (Hurry up, Danny  :crossfingers:). I do mind, however, giving guys like this as long of a leash as we've given him. Francoeur was a "Dayton guy", I understood the hesitation (but sure as hell didn't support it).  We should have no emotional attachment to Davis, despite him being a part of the Myers trade.

If you thought we were going to win this game or even keep it close, you were wrong.
