Is a .484 OPS good for Jac? Seems kind of lackluster to call a guy up from the minors this early and see that kind of result after 50 plate appearances.

.484 is terrible for someone you think is a power hitter. He should never go below .700

Cost them a year of service time calling him up early, too.

Gonna be fascinating to see if the Royals are buy or sell in the next little bit . . . they're out in tweener land relative to being able to get into the wild card race.

If they do what they should do against the Pirates, then the Mets series looms pretty large right before the break.

A great home stand here and they're right in the thick of the wild card. I say go for it.

Yeah totally agree. They aren't that far out wildcard wise and they proven even when they have sections of suck they bounce back with sections of passable to pretty good. They might as well. Back to back playoffs would be a lot of fun. Not even expecting a pennant nor a world series but I mean why not try?

They could be back asking for more taxpayer money soon.  They have to be buyers if it is remotely reasonable.

What do they need to buy? And who is available to buy in the space?

They need someone to hit baseballs but I do not know enough about other MLB teams to identify who that is.

Upgrade in the outfield and a guy who can for sure hit baseballs is important for the 'yals if they want to make a playoff push.

My top targets of who we could get without giving much up but would be an upgrade in the outfield are the following.
Bryan Reynolds Pirates RF ------> https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/bryan-reynolds-668804?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
Taylor Ward Angels LF ------------> https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/taylor-ward-621493?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
Cedric Mullins Orioles CF ----------> https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/cedric-mullins-656775?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
Dane Myers Marlins CF ---------> https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/dane-myers-667472?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb

I'd still trade Lugo if they can get a decent return. He's gone next year and even if they sneak in to the wildcard, it most likely ends like it did last year when they face legit playoff teams. I know baseball is weird and anything can happen, but these bats aren't winning any playoff series. Trade Lugo and hope you end up like the Tigers last year by still making the wildcard and then kicking ass in 2026. Playing the Pirates is fun though!!!!!

Not a bad idea at all. See what we can get for him and move up a little.

I saw a chart or something the other day and they had him listed as the 3rd most valuable trade chip at the deadline. I think he was the top pitcher on the list. Rumors that the Dodgers and Cubs have called. I know prospects aren't dealt like they used to be at the deadline, but having two of the richest teams after your guy should yield a decent haul. They just have to hit on the return which is easier said than done.

Who is viable from dodgers and cubs in regards to a good hitting OF that can play right away?

No idea, but it won't take much to upgrade the current outfield situation. I personally would aim at a "prospect" with the hope of hitting on them. They most likely aren't getting a "good" MLB ready outfielder. I've seen Brian Reynolds from the Pirates being tossed around. I'd personally rather run with Lofton and Cags this year than someone like that and try and hit on someone in high A or AA from a trade partner. A guy like Reynolds isn't going to win them a playoff series this year so i'd be looking at 2026/27, but i'm just an idiot on a message board.

Jac's  sub .500 OPS isn't doing it for ya huh?

Bringing Cags up when we did was a swing at a pitch low and away.

Depends if he gets hot between now and the ASG. If he doesn’t he probably gets sent down. He’s had a couple homers this week so if it took him a month to figure it out then I think that’s worth the payoff. I read he’s taken better AB’s the past couple games, too. It’s probably just homers getting excited about a coupl homers this week but maybe it’s not!  :excited:
