I have no idea who our OF prospects are, do we have anyone worth a crap in AAA?

They are deep in the OF. No stars but a lot of league average guys. None that will come close to replacing that D.

Happy trails to Gordo.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

The best player on the 2014-15 teams was Cain.
The vocal leader of the 2014-15 teams was Hosmer.
The emotional core of the 2014-15 teams was Salvy.
The secret weapon of the 2014-15 teams was HDH.

Yet, Alex was at the heart of it all, quietly being the best defensive left fielder in the game, and worked hard enough to be a really good offensive player. He was clutch, he was a winner, he lead by example. Cheers Alex. To the next chapter.

In 2014 i bought front row royals tickets from O town cat. They were right behind the dugout. We beat Detroit on the day before the all star break. He sold me the same seats again (at face value because #1cat, #1royal) and i went with mrs cf3, j-dub, and slimz. It was a pretty light crowd, and the game was nothing special. We’re down a run and Alex is up. I yell to Rusty Kuntz- “WATCH ALEX WALK US OFF!” and he did. What a night. If you look close enough, you can see us behind the dugout partying. [youtube]

2007- opening day. I’m at the game with my Dad. He was sad because he knew he would have to leave before the game ended to go to a funeral for the son of a friend. “But Dad,” i say “Alex Gordon is going to make his debut today.” So dad comes to the game, at least for a few innings. Bottom of the 1st, Schilling is on the mound for the Red Sox. Royals get a couple, and it’s 2 outs bases loaded. Back then Schilling was known for the bloody sock and the 2001 World Series, not weird political stuff, he was legend, but we had drafted a kid from close to home who was going to be the next George Brett. Alex strikes out and Dad has to leave to make it to the funeral. Don’t worry Dad. 7 years from now, we’ll sweep the Orioles and that kid from Nebraska will have played to his potential. He’ll even make a great catch in left field in to help us win that day. We’ll find each other after the game and hug. “Love you Dad” “Love you too son, hey- remember when we went to Gordon’s first game? I bet you didn’t picture this!”

Actually I did, but my imagination was always a bit dreamy.

Cheers Alex. Cheers. No, you weren’t the next George Brett, but you were the only Alex Gordon, and that’s pretty damn good.

Tip of the cap to you, my friend.

If they keep this playoff formant (which I pray they don't) the Royals should enter the offseason looking to add major league pieces with an expectation of making the playoffs in 2021.

Hopefully there are some good FA first basemen.

In general things are looking up. They played arguably the toughest schedule and still ended up beating expectations. There are good pieces. They were clearly not a hapless bottom feeder team.

Not a fan of the video board in leftfield. I liked seeing the Royals HOF and that jerk that would run out there with a W or a broom. Also, why would anyone look at that video board when you can look at the crown?
