The most important player in out 2015 run was Carlos Correa booting a sunday hop in g4 of the divisionals.

Cueto had 2 good starts and 1 atrocious start in the post season. He was not the ace, rather the #3 pitcher. Not sure why you think game 2 of the ws was so much more important than the other 3 we won. Complete revisionist history to say cueto was some dominant irreplaceable force on the 2015 team.

I've got no problem in hindsight with the Cueto trade. I do believe he was a big part of winning the WS. Finn was a bit of a hit, but Reed and Lamb have been pretty bad for Cinci.

Yeah, I'm about 90% sure we still would have won the world series without him, but that uncertainty still makes the trade worth it to me.

Yep. I said it at the time, any move that helped lead to a WS title was worth it and I won't back down from that. It was an incredible run and getting B2B WS plus winning one was worth nearly every move we made IMHO. I'll be forever thankful to Moore/Yost for that, but clearly that doesn't give them a pass forever. They are now being judged on how they handle the rebuild after that and if things don't progress over the next couple of seasons they should be gone.

Not to be a debbie downer, but the load we shipped out for cueto would probably be on the roster or traded for parts on the roster that would have won more than 3 games at this juncture.

Somebody is bound to have a 3rd baseman get hurt this July. The prospects we get from Moose, plus the overall number 1 pick in the draft, should have us well on our way toward being competitive around 2028.
