Looks like almost all the others in Wild Card contention have won tonight or are winning.  :bang:

Last 31 days....
We have 2 or fewer runs 11x
Plus 3 more games we only had 6 hits or less.

Going 20-10 will be very very tough.
At least we get Minn 7 times. So 4 or 5 wins likely if we could get 20-10

If the Orioles won 86 I would be floored. If Angels did it, I wouldn't be floored, but still surprised.

Not sure this team could rebound if we don't win this upcoming Twins series

I've still has fun this season guys. Looking forward to Moose setting the record and I'm glad we played to win. I know all teams have injuries, but this team isn't deep enough to absorb what we had this summer. 7 pitchers currently on the DL and Salvy still isn't himself.

There have been a few good moments, but for me its an overall disappointment. Least fun season since 2012 IMO.  I'll remember it as the season where we punted the things we were built on as (bullpen) and wasted really good seasons from core players (Sal, Moose, Hos, Cain, Whit) because our team had so many holes.

Mostly though this season like Sdk said has been about not having Ace out there. Can't help but think with all the damn injuries he would've made a difference and we'd be at least a couple games above where we are if he was here.

i was a fan of the Davis/Soler trade.

but it was a bad trade, and not at all because Soler hasn't worked out. it's bad only because we needed Wade more than we needed $8M or whatever

No doubt on Ace.

Besides that, I think the Salvy injury was the turning point for this season. Losing him for so long and even now that he's back and not close to himself has been very bad for this team.

And yes, Dayton/Ned thinking they had or could find the bullpen pieces after getting rid of Holland (completely understandable) and Davis (not completely understandable) was a killer.

We might be able to trade Whit and Gordon to somebody in exchange for them paying Gordon's salary. Whit might actually be worth Gordon's salary, though.

the only way we could trade gordon is if we still paid for like 90% of his salary

I would rue the day. I was hoping for more of a Moose or Hosmer with Gordo trade.

I hope the Royals make a decision that benefits them. Clearly paying Gordon was not a wise move on their part. Selfishly, I'm glad they kept him. Objectively, they should have let him go in hindsight.

I agree with CF3 that on the field Yordano would have counted for a handful more victories. It was his brash cocky emotional style that I miss and perhaps the team does too. I don't know who on the team has that demeanor. I can't verbalize it well.

He just seemed to me like a guy that would go into a fight at any time no matter what odds. A guy that wouldn't go into a fight worrying about losing. A guy that would throw down for what he believed was right. I can identify with that and respected what I perceived about him.

I miss that guy.

Yo's unstableness lost him as many games as he won. I loved his fire, but it was misdirected at many times. He had great stuff. We'd probably be a game or two better, if that.

Here's my list of the Top 5 things that kept the Royals from the postseason:

1. Ventura's unfortunate death.
2. Trading Davis.
3. Salvy's injury.
4. Mondesi instead of Whit to start the season.
5. Gordon becoming the worst offensive regular player in the MLB.

Lots of others I know, but that's my 5.

let's not forget whit only missed the first 12 games (and the royals were 6-6 at that point). it's not like he was called up in june. #5 is way way way worse than #3 and #4

That's a good point. It seemed like way longer than that, and we were 6-6 when he started playing.

He was 11-12 last year, friend. With a 4.45 ERA.

if you want to know why we lost so many games, look at Gordon's W/L splits, and maybe take special note of the "RBI" column.

Split          G    GS   PA     AB     R     H   2B  3B HR  RBI  BB  SO    BA     OBP   SLG   OPS   TB
in Wins      61   57   235   203   29   47   10   2   5   35   19   48   .232   .316   .374   .691   76
in Losses   58   56   211   189    8    31    5    0   0    2    16   53   .164   .248   .190   .438   36

all Gordon had to do was be shitty, not worst in the league shitty, and we probably would have been fine

Wow, that's pretty dramatic.
