I don't think Volquez should come back. I'm afraid he's headed down James Shields Avenue.

Kind of sad, but probably true.

The last two games (plus 3 upcoming vs the Twins and 3 vs already clinched Indians) have changed my mind, we will finish >.500.

Probably 83-79.

Its up to Terrance to do that. You can't do it for him.

2016-17 offseason should be looking for 3 things:

1. RF who can hit HRs
2. SP
3. Bullpen arms

What are we doing for DH next year?

Interesting question. He's signed through this season, with a mutual option for next year at $11 million, but the Royals can buy him out for $1.5. Speculation is that he might jump on the option (I think KC would to) because he may not be able, at his age, with his one-dimensional skill set, and his injury history, to command $16.7 million or more on the open market, with the $16.7 being the projected MLB-wide QO requirement. Testing the market didn't work out so well for him the last time he did it. Personally, I'd like to see him back.

I think the plan is DH to be used for guys like Cain/Salvy etc for off days. I don't love this plan but they've been thinking about it since the Billy days

what makes you think they don't want Kendrys back? he has the highest OPS on the team!

the royals are smart enough to want some version of this next year for $10m:

.290/.362/.485, 22 HR, 106 RBI 2.7 OWAR
.266/.331/.473, 30 HR, 92 RBI 1.1 OWAR

Players with a wRC+ over 100 (average hitter): Hosmer-101, Morales-112

looks like there are 106 of these players according to fangraphs, 3.5 per team. Moose was on pace to be there too, Cain was at 98. If those guys play we're probably talking about 4 over 100 wRC+ players, and a much different season/offensive production

I'm choosing to believe next year the power numbers will take a big jump forward for this team. I choose that belief.

that's still 3.5 per team dummy

True, but the Royals don't have any additional ones with even 150 PA
