Flynn has a lot of responsibility in the loss. A walk and then he can't field a bunt (shocker, a KC pitcher can't field). The runners at 1st/2nd were his. However when is the last time Soria has gotten a big out or 2 big outs in a row.
A good reliever should be able to get at least 7 of every 10 guys out. And getting out 3/4 of the batters you face (.250 OBP) is really ideal. We know about the 11 times Soria has given up his own ERs to give up the lead. Well, tonight is the 3rd time he wasn't good and allowed other pitchers ER to score.
1. Tonight, retired 1 batter and gave up 1 single (winning run scored)
2. Last week vs Oak, he gave a double, single, and then got the 3rd out (3 runs scored)
3. at Detroit, 1st game after AS break, he walked a batter, struck out a batter, then gave up an infield single (ball deflected off Soria glove). He then got 3rd out. (2 runs scored)
So 9 batters faced in those 3 big situations.... 5 got on base, he got 4 outs.
