Only 2nd time I've been pissed at Yost this year.
WTF was he thinking putting Gee back out there for the 6th??

He pitched 3 days ago. He did a decent job giving up 2ER in 5.0 Innings but 9 guys reached base....so he wasn't stellar and his pitch count was about 85 thru 5.0

The bullpen only pitched 2.0 last 2 games.

Oh, Ned isn't managing to win games anymore.  That's sad.

Post game, Ned said he thought  Gee was throwing well, so stuck with him.  Once again I will point out that 9 of the 24 he faced reached base ( that a high .360 OBP).  He hasn't shown signs of being "good" for several starts.  He gave you 5.0 and allowed 2 runs. Take it and go to the Pen

He doesn't and Gee final stat line.... 12 baserunners allowed, 15 outs, 5 ER in 5.0 Innings.  By statline, that's a bad start, and it didn't have to be

This entire team, Manager included, just are not real good the last 2 months.  We won 6 of 7 at home vs Cle/Det and were 38-31.... And been a poor team ever since

I wasn't being sarcastic I was being serious.  He left Mondesi in to get absolutely destroyed in the top of the ninth with dyson,colon, or butera available to pinch hit.  Managing to give Mondesi some of that experience is fine I just thought with Dayton saying he wanted to finish strong and removing Esky from the lead off spot they were still in win now mode.

We have a chance to be good next year if we bring in a new coaching staff

That was a fun inning. Those have not happened often this year.

Apparently he needs to average 3.8 plate appearances a game to have enough AB's to qualify for the batting title

Duffy has a WAR of 3.5, but yeah, not ideal to only have 2 everyday guys in the top 40.

WAR can be misleading... Merrifield is better than Hosmer? GTHOOF.

sorry meant just position players.

Well Hosmer is having a horrendous defensive year

Merrifield:

OWAR = 0.6
DWAR = 0.5
WAR = 1.1

Hosmer:

OWAR = 1.2
DWAR = -0.4
WAR = 0.8

DWAR is weird stat, especially for first basemen. Hos has had a negative DWAR every year.

Hosmer's DWAR by year

2011 +1.0
2012 -0.8
2013 +0.5
2014 +0.5
2015 0.0
2016 -0.4

in my mind's eye 2014 was a very good defensive year and 2015 was OK and this year has been terrible, so his DWAR seems to agree with that

What site are you using? Baseball Reference has completely different numbers.

Since June 2.... Cuthbert Slugging % is .496
Since June 30..., Hos OPS is .536

I can't remember the last time Hos came up and I was excited.
He's hitting .227 since June 1 and only 24% of those hits were for Xbases.

41-16 starts tonight.  Yordano is going to throw fire.

8-5 since this post, likely 9-5 after Duffy emasculates Verlander tomorrow night.  Then a tasty tasty four game home series with the Twinsies to get back over .500 for the first time since July 23rd.
