This team hasn't been the same since we lost my boy Vargas

losing Vargas motivated ownership to get Cueto and win a WS

Gordon should only be at a position that doesn't bat

I think he has more pride than morales and will come back better than he started the season.  I wouldn't mind putting him at DH for a few weeks after he comes back.

Pride is meaningless. Perhaps Gordon needs the humility to know he should lift less and take more BP

Can we just all agree to not be idiots ITT and never talk about how the team doesn't "want it enough" or blame Kendrys miserable performance on lack of "pride" or whatever fake non-analysis that kevin keitzman will provide?

Also, the other teams in the American League are very good. We can only play the Twins so many times. We probably just don't have the roster this year. It happens.

it's crazy that without the middle of the lineup from 2015 that the offense is struggling

you shouldn't be super pissed if we don't make the playoffs.

no team has made 3 straight World Series since the 2001 yankees, and they are the only team to do that in the Wildcard era.

in the wildcard era 5 teams have made 3 straight LCS appearances, so that's at least more attainable

making the playoffs 3 straight times has happened more frequently (19 times in the wildcard era), but still its hard.

honestly look at the roster. who is a potential hall of fame player? who is the best in the league at their position? (Salvy and Wade are the only ones you'd even consider.) who has been a starting pitcher for us the last 3 seasons who was even one of the 10 best in the AL? (maybe Cueto???). it was special to see the past 2 seasons, and I want it to continue too, but I don't have it in me to get pissed, at least not like I used to.

FTR I still expect the team to be in a pennant race well into September.

nothing you said changes the fact that I will be mad if we don't make the playoffs. Will I get over? Yes, pretty quickly, but I will still be mad. We have a team that has been in the WS back to back years, still have the core from both of those teams, the expectation should be to make the playoffs.

I bet the Giants fans were pissed they didn't make the playoffs last year.

True. I'm sure the Warriors helped them get through that tho.

The starting pitching hasn't been good lately, but the offense not producing consistently is still the biggest issue IMO.
1) First 6 series to start the year, we went 12-6 scoring 3.89 Runs/Gm.(only lost 1 series)
2) Next 5 series we went 4-12 ( lost  all 5)
3) next 3 series we went 6-3, but did it only scoring 3.33 Runs/gm (won all 3)
4) next 3 series we went 8-1 and that's when the Offense got hot, 7.11 Runs
5) Last 5 games, just 7 runs and 0-5 record

* So 6 series early and 6 series recently, we won ball games (26-10) but only got the offense going in the last 3 series (other 9 series, only a 3.71 Runs Ave)
* The 4-12 and 0-5 skids are over 6 series (plus last nights game).  We got 20 runs in the 4 game NYY series, but a dismal 2.23 Runs/gm in the other 17
* Bottom line it's tough to go 12-6 over 3 weeks scoring under 4.0 runs. It's also tough to win 3 series in a row scoring under 3.5 runs.   We did both

Hosmer can make a great case for currently being the best 1st baseman in all of baseball.

at minimum I'd rather have Miggy Cabrera and Anthony Rizzo. but he's top 5 right now I'd give you that. just depends on how you view Goldschmidt, Belt, etc.

Has any starting pitcher ever gotten better under dave eiland?  It's time to fire eiland is what I'm getting at.  Also, while we're at it, let's go ahead and fire dale swain.

Glad I'm not watching. Just looked at play by play.
1) 2nd & 3rd No out....we score 0 after 3 straight outs
2) Bases loaded no out. After we got a walk, 3 straight outs with no more runs being scored
3) 1st & 2nd 1 out..... no runs after 2 outs

I didn't mention 2 other Innings we had 2 base runners and didn't score.

12 base runners 5 Innings 1 run.  Countless ABs with RISP.  LOL
