Anything I should look for tonight? So I can share some solid insights?
I'm a rookie to being an MLB fan. I'll admit it. Growing up in Kansas in a family that didn't follow baseball and attending a high school without a baseball team I didn't ever really get into it. When I got to KState I took notice of our success on the diamond. I started going to games with a friend of mine who had an app that kept track of baseball stats at the NCAA and MLB level. He taught me a lot about the strategy of the game that I never learned playing pee-wee ball.
Last year helped me become enamored with the MLB. This season I have been tracking stats and players when I can, but I am still at rookie status.
What you hope to see tonight:
1. Effeciency from Duffy. Getting outs without 25+ pitch innings. Get ahead of hitters, and when runners are on, limit damage. Sometimes when he's missing, he starts working slow, and it tends to compound.
2. Clean game. During the homestand we did some dumb stuff. Ran into outs at home, tried to barehand a ball that didn't need it, missing an out, wild pitches, etc. Even if we lose, I want it to happen without stupid plays.
3. Top and Middle of the order produce. Whoever hits 7-8-9 (some combo of Rios/Dyson/Orlando/Perez/Escobar/Butera/Infante/Colon/Cuthbert) shouldn't be who we look at with blame if we lose. We had Cain and Hosmer up with Gore set to walk off on 3rd, and didn't get a hit on Wednesday night. Top 6, has to produce runs.
I bet we see the A lineup tonight, after an off day, and with our struggles. Just hope its the A lineup with either Orlando or Dyson in RF.
